Pets Wait for Rescue, Too ( sad pic )

http://www.npr.org/news/images/2005/...dogs_large.jpg
Two dogs sit atop an SUV in the Gentilly neighborhood of New Orleans on Sept. 6, eight days after Hurricane Katrina struck the region.

The search and rescue of loved ones along the Gulf Coast includes pets. The Humane Society says it's rescued about 400 pets so far. An untold number of dogs, cats, birds and other animals are still trapped in homes. Others roam freely, looking for food and a familiar face.

Loryn-adult had posted an org to which you can give ... anybody has that handy ... Otherwise, yes I will use the search .

no, i have a donation account for the website (since it helps brides plan their wedding, sometimes its nice to give $5 for saving hundreds of dollars on wedding shit lol) so anything that comes into that account, i'll match & just donate it using my own credit card. :thumbsup :thumbsup
(figured people who didnt wanna put thier CC online, but a had a few bucks in their paypal account, they can just donate it via paypal. besides, their website's lowest possible donation is $10. this will get other people that have less than that to donate.)

AmateurFlix 09-07-2005 08:48 AM

Those poor animals need all the help they can get. I hate to even consider how many have been trapped indoors this entire time.

flirty 09-07-2005 09:15 AM

this is breaking my heart :Oh crap
well it's also good to see them alive. imagine those who were killed by Katrina.
poor pets, i wish they'd all be rescued soon, as well as with the rest of the people left....and had enough food :(

CherryLipsRosa 09-07-2005 09:40 AM

Sometimes we take it for granted but imagine being there all alone. I bet they are really hungry right now

tony286 09-07-2005 09:42 AM

I gave money at petsmart for them its so sad.

Scott McD 09-07-2005 09:45 AM

Yep, it's sad sad stuff.

On the news here a couple of days ago, it showed you a guy getting rescued by boat, and he had to leave his cats at home. (i'm don't know why he couldn't take them with him).

He opened up all the tins of cat food in the house, and left them to fend for themselves. When asked if he would see them again, he said "no", almost in tears.

I've already said on here about me not donating to the other funds which were set up, because of my disgust at what some of the mindless idiots were doing.

Animals however always have my support, and i'm donating as much as i can now to help...

It seems like most of the rescue personnel aren't letting people take their animals with them when they try to extract homeowners.

So sad. I know I couldn't leave without my 2 cats and my dog. How heartbreaking.

xuron 09-07-2005 10:00 AM

yeah I donated to noahs wish and just donated to the humane society.. I feel more sorry for the animals as they are more helpless then the people there... and it pisses me off that people left their animals and even more there was no way for people to escape with their pets to the shelters...

Thanks for the link. I just made a donation. I feel so bad for those pets and owners who were forced to separate. Dogs are so much like humans, yet most people don't see it that way. I've always thought dogs were a better race than we are...ever since I was a kid.

bjjb 09-07-2005 10:07 AM

As sad as that is even sadder is the fact that most of those pets will probably be euthanized cause no one will be able to pick em back up.

tornell 09-07-2005 10:07 AM

that's very sad

Paraskass 09-07-2005 10:07 AM

it sucks not to be allowed to bring your dog (or cat) with you. Pretty damn stupid.

I don't even know if i could do it. I have 1 cat.

I still think about those cats i just posted about in the thread, and they weren't even mine... :(

poppet 09-07-2005 10:55 AM

I don't have much in the way of money, but I've been happily relaying pets to safe places here in TN to help reunite them with their owners.

davethetruth 09-07-2005 11:02 AM

I gave a little to the red cross and a little to the humane society.

I wish I had more to donate to help. :(

i cant imagine myself stuck in the same situation. i'd cry all day thinking i left them behind :(

phonesex 09-07-2005 11:50 AM

sad to see animals left behind. They are still working on getting people out and now they have to focus on getting those who dont' want to come out.

WarChild 09-07-2005 11:56 AM

I donated to this already, good cause.

webair 09-07-2005 11:59 AM
