The Best Dual Monitor setup or Best Ultra-wide monitor setup

So I'm in the market for all new hardware. My dual 2009 iMac 27's have served me well but it's time for an upgrade.

I am considering either using 2 x 27" Monitors with a vertical resolution of at least 1440 pixels, daisy chainged via thunderbolt to a Macbook Pro. This seems like the most elegant setup and the one that makes the most sense price-wise as the Mac Pro is around the same price as the high-end Macbook pro.

I'm also considering swapping the dual monitor setup for a single 38" ultra-wide curved monitor. It looks sexy as hell but having 2 monitors gives me a little more versatility.

I'm also also considering not buying another computer at all, and just using my Alienware Area 51 PC, along with a dual setup like the above. Its only about 2 years old and should support an ultra-wide but I'm not sure. Of course it will support dual monitors, but what I hate about it is that it won't be elegant. It will be a mess of wires and even worse, I'll be back to running Windows which sssuuuuucccckkksssss but at least I'll save a few thousand dollars.

Suggestions? Pics of your setup? Both?

Cheers.

I'm curious about this as well. I currently use 2 24 inch monitors but I'm going to be getting a new PC in the not too distant future and I've been kicking around the idea of going with one of those big, ultra wide monitors myself. I don't know anyone that uses one though, so I don't know how they like it.

I went from dual 24" 1920x1200 to one 38" ultrawide 3840x1600, it's so much better to work on.

How do you connect them, and which computer are you using? Do you have 4 cables from each monitor connected to 4 ports on your computer via HDMI, or are they daisychained with displayport? Or something different?

Is it a curved ultra-wide? And if so, do you do any graphics on it? My concern is that straight lines in photoshop for example won't appear straight because of the curve in the monitor. Is this true or is this a non-issue?

It's curved, Acer XR382CQK, uses same panel as the LG models. You can code, design and check out site all on one big screen.

As for the curve, I think it's a positive, making it more comfortable to use. I can still tell when lines are straight or not.

I just use Dell monitors. I have two 22 inch, and one 23 inch.

They say "size doesn't matter" and in this case it really doesn't. In my world one monitor is dedicated one to one task. Main window is whatever I am working on, one monitor for email, one monitor for skype. I don't need 27 inches for skype, or email, or posting on GFY.

Here is my home office.

On my PC, I have an nvidia 1080Ti videocard. I use 2 display ports for center and left monitor, HDMI for the right monitor, HDMI for the Oculus headset. For the top monitor, I use my motherboard's HDMI out since nothing on that monitor really needs high power. I use the top monitor mainly for youtube and stuff like that.

On my 2015 27" iMac, it sits in the center and I have a 24" Benq monitor sitting on the left and right, both running from the iMac's mini display ports.
