What happens after the DECRIMINALIZATION of weed in the US?

Let's get real for a second.... one of the main reasons why weed got so popular in the US is because it was a way to live a countercultural lifestyle that STUCK IT TO THE MAN!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DrdvtvoDjYE

Now that weed is going to be legal in all 50 states (and God willing the rest of the planet), what will replace it as the next REBEL "drug"?

Any guesses?

Heroin...? ehm.. NO

Meth? HELL to the NAW

My bet? Ecstacy MDMA

True. I remember the first time I took X back in college nearly 30 years ago... It was as if I was literally BORN AGAIN. I could talk to ANYONE - and feel LOVE and COMPASSION for them... totally unfiltered and relentless selflessness. It was uncut uncynical SPIRITUALITY in a capsule.

Perhaps because I do not do drugs, I disagree with legalizing marijuana.

Last week I was out cutting my front lawn, seen this mid 20's guy walking down the sidewalk (my side of the street). Didn't want to spray him with lawn clippings so I waited for him to pass my house.
Do you believe this guy was casually walking down the street smoking a joint. That happened before involving someone else.

Do what you feel like doing, it's none of my business. I would be more than pissed off every time I walk in to a store and people are freely getting high or smelling of pot because it's legal to do so.
Furthermore, I certainly wouldn't want stoners conducting business with my clients.

Legalizing marijuana is strictly for the State Governments profit.

Ecstasy ? Speaking of which. A moron that lives up the street from me was arrested for being under the influence of Ecstasy - He was on the drug when he smashed up his car and left the scene of the accident.
I have pictures and flipped over to video of all the police outside his parents house.

First, you assume people smoke weed to be rebellious, that's wrong.

Second, you assume weed is a gateway drug, it's not.

obviously next topic should be the mind-expanding psychedelics... governments don't really want people to be conscious though... I don't give a fuck, I always had my connections all over the world... I get my topshelf weed and cocaine and other stuff wherever the fuck I go :D

DMT...

But really, most people that smoke weed will continue to just smoke weed. Going to a weed store safely and being able to shop around for the strand and price that you want will just make things better. If you switch to a different 'drug', then you're just a poser...

What will happen? I will dance naked down Fifth Avenue in Manhattan with a bong in one hand and a giant spliff in the other. Duh.

No one today is interested in being "counter culture". There is no "generation gap" anymore. It's all about inclusion, everyone being part of the group, participation trophies and calling your Dad by his first name 'cause he's your friend now not your Father.

This is debatable. The fact that it is illicit for so long makes it the 'forbidden fruit' in the eyes of some youth. It gets some of its rebellious cachet partly from that fact.

I'm not sure you read my post correctly. I am not assuming weed is a gateway drug. You are probably confused.

The whole 'weed is a gateway drug to harder drugs' falls flat in the face of the FACT that alcohol is a better 'gateway' statistically to hard drugs than weed could ever be.

it's not really debatable. you're speaking strictly about youth when the fact is people of all ages smoke weed.

I did read your post correctly and I read it a few times to make sure I was not confused by your implication/assumption which is that people will segue from weed to another more powerful drug, that's a gateway.

perhaps you didn't understand what you wrote.

I need you to explain something to me. I live in a state where it is legal. There are tens of millions of dollars brought in every month from this. Thousands of people have good paying jobs because of it. There are hundreds of new businesses that have started because of it and millions are going into the schools and other resources from the tax money.

No, when I walk into the store it doesn't smell like pot in there. For that matter, I almost never smell or see it.

What this proves is that there are tons of pot smokers. If it were suddenly made illegal again, those people aren't going to stop smoking, they are going to go back to buying it how they did before, illegally. So here is what I need from you. Explain to me how legal pot is so bad that making it illegal and putting those millions of dollars back into the hands of drug dealers and drug cartels is a better solution.

If the trade off for millions of dollars in tax revenue, jobs, and a big economic boost for the state is that every now and then you see a guy walking down the street smoking a joint (which is illegal in my state, by the way), I think that is pretty fair trade.

^Exactly, legalizing it will only be a good thing. Lower prices eventually with competition will help the average smoker not be so broke, there are stores to get it at and choices and no pressure to buy is much better than most illegal ways to buy it, a lot of people who don't smoke just because it's illegal won't be scared to try it and some will definitely benefit from the medicinal effects, more taxes coming in, more jobs, less smuggling from other countries, less negative effects than drinking imho, etc.

Oh right, all of those people smoking weed are just doing it to be rebels and legalizing it will make them do harder shit.... lol

I haven't been to an OR weed store, but CA and CO definitely smell like weed.

Do you smoke cigarettes?

The stores smell like weed, no question about it. Some are worse than others. Of the two that are closest to where I live, one you can smell as soon as you park and get out of the car, the other you can't really smell until you are right next too the building.

I don't smoke cigarettes and never have. Weed I smoke actual weed on occasion but 95% of the time I use a vape pen and oil cartridge.

Then I guess I don't understand what you meant by "No, when I walk into the store it doesn't smell like pot in there. For that matter, I almost never smell or see it."

I wasn't too clear. When I walk into a grocery store, or for that matter anywhere but a pot store I don't smell pot. OP seems worried that every time he walks to a store he is going to be overwhelmed with pot smokers and pot smell. It's just not the case.

Reading is fundamental, Lloyd. I said "one of the main reasons" not "THE main reason." Do you and Dyna Mo share the same Kumon class?

Also, I don't smoke weed or done any drugs in over 2 decades. Just asking a key question because the War on Drugs has failed.
