Exact Match Premium Domain - Worth It?

I know a lot of factors are to play, depends on the niche, keyword and domain itself.

Would you buy an exact match domain for $4kUS?

I'm talking KEYWORDporn.com. Let's say the keyword is doing well for me on other sites I'm running but I want to be the leader of the keyword.

Are there any websites or resources I can use to check if the domain is ruined or not? Right now it just redirects to another site.

The money is a little bit of a stretch to get, based on future earnings and expenses it might take me 1-2 months to pay it off but then I would own the keyword+porn.com.

I contacted the owner of the domain, they said almost 20k for the domain, but namesilo.com says it's $4k buy it now.

Is there anything in your due diligence that you would perform if you were me?

Sorry for a business thread

In shortly, no. They used to worth gold, as they were giving you almost instant first position on google for same keyword, but then google said no no no and it does not work anymore, making EMD domains useless. I was hoping how there is still a bug which would atleast combo of domain and extension to make it work, but they fixed it too. But i noticed one funny thing then - if you let say have domain sex.porn , you wont rank for keyword sex porn anywhere, but you will be still first on keywords sex.porn (with dot) . So, if you can manage people to use dots when searching, then it can worth lol

So let's say i had: BDSMPorn.com and made it a tube for example. And people liked it, and my retention was good and uploaded exactly what they want so bounce rate was great and all that - some incoming links. There's a chance that it won't do shit for my business?

Now, investment wise, let's say this expense is 10% of my income (could be more or less, just an example), would it still be the same answer in terms of risk?

Would be cool to own the exact match! Trying to talk myself out of it. But then again if the cost is only 10% of my income.... I'm talking myself into it lol.

For that answer would be same as for any premium domain - buy it only if you want a cool branding name, as there is no other benefits. There is one trick, when domain which you want is taken, you just add an letter a before it and you have almost identical domain . So in this case, abdsmporn.com might be available to register.

OMG incredibleworkethic, an actual business related question.

As KlenTelaris stated, exact match domains no longer have the same SEO value they carried long ago, nonetheless there is still some value in both SEO matrix and more importantly in the branding.

Simple. If you can afford to buy it (without cutting back on food and heating for the family)
absolutely go for it. BTW, if you can, don't forget to pick up the hyphenated version as well.

A big benefit beyond SEO is memorability. It is a lot easier to remember KEYWORDporn.com than [someletter]KeywordPorn.com

Insofar as SEO, it can have some advantage if you structure the site properly around that brand and stay focused on it. It certainly does not hurt.

But memorability is something a lot of people seem to overlook these days. And a strong domain wil also lessen loss to typos and, accordingly, to typo domainers.

Awesome yes, my business is separate from my full time job I feed the family with.

Thanks everyone. Let you know if I do it.

Any way to see if a domain has been ruined in some way? Like banned or spam?

I think it depends on how you handle the keyword density and anchor text ratio. By definition with an EMD using your brand in your anchor texts means you also have exact keyword match in your anchors and therein lies the problem - very easy to be caught by over-optimisation penalty. Avoid that and you should be good.

Majestic or Ahrefs but not for free. Maybe Majestic still gives you one go for free, not sure now.

I spoke to a bunch of people in my life about it as well. They said go for it you might regret it.

I hit submit.

It's not an instant order so we'll see if it went through tomorrow. Otherwise namesilo refunds me.

Speaking from experience.

Don't buy it for SEO purposes. It is actually more difficult with exact match because your brand will be word-porn.com and having links into you with that text too often can actually hurt you. Even though it's your brand name.

Do buy it for branding. If it were a tube that was for a certain niche, it is good to have an easy to remember domain name.

The domain is still in progress but it's showing sold where it was posted. Should know more this coming week.

It was regged in 2001, domain reg history matters and helps still?

Nope. I never see a keyword match domain for a
- best hotels in LA
- best whores in Las Vegas
- cheap pizza in NY
or a fucking
- best porn with milfs.
