Well, when parents anywhere in the USA break the law, social services do indeed take children away from their parents. We expect that to happen. And we would be outraged as a society if that were not the case. The children's welfare should always be first and foremost.

However, I'm not aware that crossing the border illegally is breaking any particular American law. So I feel that those who do, should be exempt from social services taking children. (My 2 cents, I'm not a lawyer. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.)

Maybe you should care that the chances of every single kid growing up in a black household with no father has an exponentially greater chance of ending up in prison. You know, make a real difference. What bothers me is that we live in a world where people can completely flip out over a headline from very dishonest news sources which are all dying and have long since became info-tainment.

Not a single person thinks rationally and asks "ok,, lets look at this,... what are the facts exactly" but instead simply respond to a mental image or an idea "should children be torn from parents" and do so in a complete vacuum, with no facts AND then don't care about the facts.

It reminds me a great deal of living in Russia. Everyone used to say "you can't believe anything on the news" and then at the same time, you'd see that anytime the news said something they wanted to believe, that "thing" on the news became gospel.

US media at this point is every bit as bad as Russian media. The difference is that Russian is controlled by the government and here, they are just dying and forced to basically become those little paid ad content blocks (taboola/outbrain) at the bottom of sites with headlines like 'This kid stood in front of a semi and you won't believe what happened next" - except it's the mainstream public reacting to those little ad blocks.

To be illegal in the 1600s, wouldn't there have to be a government and laws established? So how did they come here "illegally"? And as far as declaring their land as ours, for the most part the indians didn't believe in private property as they were nomadic. If they did own land it was communally owned, and a lot of that land was sold and paid for by the settlers. You can even search tons of these deeds at the Plymouth County Registry of Deeds going back to the early 1600s
