9 year old's & Firearms.

A 9 year old shoot her instructor in an accident, what sane person would take on a 9 year old as a student to learn about weapons. If this had happen in a European country childservice would taken their kid away, as her parents would not be fit to have a child.

I doubt the law makers that control the weapon use(r) will ever change this law, they are the root to the evil in America as long as every one can go into a weapon store and pick weapons that are ment for war and mass destruction then people will be killed.

Canada has more weapons pr citizen but they use their weapons for hunting, America that has a violent history hide under a old law that was made when the white man stole land from the red man. To protect themself from attacks, the war is over the poor red man was moved to a control'ed enviroment where they where given a bottle of gin.

Meanwhile, tens of millions of other gun owners learned how to properly use a weapon under the age of 10 as well.

yep learned 22lr at 5 yrs old and my parents never locked up any of the guns or ammo. I think we had like 10 guns sitting in our front coat closet and the ammo was just in drawers or on the floor of the closet. Merica fuck yeah

It was insane how many gopher holes existed just an acre of land. They were ruining the land and hurting other species. So the county would pay us 5 cents a gopher tail. It barely paid for our ammo. But me by brother and my father would all take our .22 rifles out and shoot gophers for hours. We would cut off their tails and put the tails in a jar and then take them to someone who would pay us. Then we would buy more ammo . This is what we did for fun when I was 5 years old. Now that I think about it I am disgusted by it

I used only airgun at young age, and not the kind of airgun you can hunt with in US. Although my dad didn't even have a gun.

But hey, I got this.

Yes his statistic didnt sound right to me. We also arent allowed to own many of the guns you can purchase in the us, and the rules they have in place to purchase even a simple revolver are so draconian that almost no one bothers (legally). We do have plenty of basic long rifles and shotguns though, since they are easy to obtain without too much hassle.

I had a BB gun at 5 and was shooting a .22 LR by the time I was 7. It taught me gun safety and appreciation for the damage a gun could inflict. I feel that if you own a firearm and have a young child in your house, it's paramount that you teach them gun safety.

I grew up with guns in the house. I was taught the safe handling of firearms at an early age and those lessons stayed with me. I was also taught the safe handling of power tools, cars, swimming in water, etc.... All of these lessons were for my safety.

I"m not sure why people from other countries, that have TONS of problems of their own, are so fixated and fascinated by what happens in the USA. Since you don't like the rights that we have here in the US, I would suggest that you thank goodness you don't have to live here, and then just carry on with your day, happy and relieved!

I grew up in a household and neighborhood of hunters in suburban NJ. Every adult male I knew was a hunter. I learned gun safety as a child and by the time I was 9-10 I was on the police youth rifle team shooting .22s.

The problem isn't guns it's owners that shouldn't have guns.

STOOPID Stance on this!!!! Children who learn about firearms at an early age are statistically less prone to having an accident with one. Check the stats fro yourself.

Children throughout history used to hunt right along side their fathers by age 6-7 and were defending themselves and family at a very young age.
Just because either the instructor or the kid weren't paying attention or the kid mischievously wanted to see what the firearm would do, doesn't change this fact.
If they would have shot something and watched what happened to it prior to handing the kids the gun this would not have happened.
My son has been shooting since he was 8, BB guns then Bow and Arrow, now 22LR. Soon he will be holding my Beretta 9mm and 7mm Magnum learning to survive and defend himself if needed.
Also, it has been proven that hunters from the deep south who have lived in the wilderness and used firearms from a young age make the best snipers and have a high rate of survival in combat.

Really!!!! What world do you live in where personal protection and survival skills are so unimportant?

Do you think police can protect you from people who want to harm you?
"When seconds count, don't worry the police will be there in minutes."

What if the guy is way bigger than you and/or a real badass? You need a gun.

The murder rate was actually higher during the time you are talking about. It probably was stupid to arm you yungins.

PS How is it going? Long time no talk.

What if the guy is way bigger than you and/or a real badass? You need a gun.

OMFG!!!!
I have say that in "civilized countries" there is not that much threats, so you can afford to take some risks. You know, it's not some fucking wild west. Also the central idea in most western countries is that police and army has somewhat monopoly for violence, as guns, etc. are not meant for self defence. You know, society protects it's citizens.

I learned to shoot ~9. But I don't think I'd teach my 9 year old daughter to shoot yet, I haven't seen her take my instructions on anything seriously enough to trust her with a loaded gun.

Also I wouldn't take her to a gun range, cause there's too many people I don't know there shooting, I don't know what kind of training they've had or what kind of safety they practice and I'm just not willing to risk anyone's life but my own for that sport.

Exactly right, you know your child!!!

And parents should be the one to teach the child gun safety and get shot if they are wrong.

We do have guns, but not for self protection (civilians). The guns that even you have won't do that much against army (that is also your own people, right?). Also, tyrants wont just come like that, pop up from the ground. And now when we are talking about tyrants: you don't have democracy, but we have, despite the difference in the amount of guns. What you say about that?

I fail to understand why a nine year old should be taught how to use a firearm.

Children are children and shouldn't be given weapons. This is why we don't give six year old knives and why we don't let children play in the kitchen (so they don't burn themselves on the stove). We also don't let our nine year olds drive. (Or vote or drink or smoke.)

We do have plenty of basic long rifles and shotguns though, since they are easy to obtain without too much hassle.
What do you mean "draconian"? It's easier to purchase a firearm than it is to get a driver's license.

BTW. The U.S. was founded as a republic with a democratic voting system to elect public servants. (That was then, this is now)

I am of the belief that the U.S. is under hostile rule as I write this and every day the oppression will get worse 'till "We the People" enforce the constitution with real force. If we don't it'll be our own fault. Once U.S. citizens pull their heads out of their asses the occupation will not work, because of our firearms and knowhow.

The public servants have stopped serving the public and started serving themselve and the corporations.

Here's one for you. How long do you think you democracy will last in the rest of the world once the U.S. constitution and government are subverted? The U.S. had been the driving force (or at least a big part of this) in the world "'till recently" of ideas and freedom to have them. With the U.S. constitution completely gone "if/when if ever happens" the boot will be upon us all.

i am living in czech republic, and i am happy i dont need to own gun and have survival skills to go outside of my house. but i know there are some dangerous countries, and if i will have kids there and made any money to move my ass to other country to protect them, i will do it asap, and not teach them how to use gun to shoot at anything that is moving in your garden ... i am really sorry for all the people that must live there and have no other choice ... but if you can move, and you dont but you teach your kids how to use guns instead, you are nothing that piece of stupid dumb ass, and here i am talking nice ...

Not this bullshit again. Fucking learn what democracy means and what republic is. Well, I don't think you will grasp the issue (you can blame your schools), so let's make this simpler, but less accurate: you don't have republic. More accurately you have the institution, but it's not working as supposed.

Democracy will do fine in the rest of the world without USA. Don't think too much about yourselves. Freedom and such is not American invention in the first place. LOL. Slavery, racial separation, etc. Yeah, land of freedom. It even wasn't the first republic.

From all your accomplishes (you have actually had plenty of those), democracy, freedom, etc. doesn't belong to those.

Good lord, what a kook. Why is it that the biggest supporters of guns are the exact people that shouldn't have guns?

They say we need a way to keep the mentally challenged away from fire arms? A good first step would be to find people that think they need guns to protect themselves from a government takeover.
