Sitting on the sidelines long enough...
I just read Fabien's post about OctopusCash (https://gfy.com/showthread.php?t=1096494) and one part of the message got me irked:
"There will be no more payments. We are now out of business." Yet as Homer Simpson pointed out Quote:
So what about the the folks who have been promoting and pushing traffic to those paysites. What about those rebills? Those revenues that are owed? They are essentially telling their affiliates, thanks for the all your hardwork and guess what we are not going to pay you anything that you are owed. Let me make this clear, I did not promote OctopusCash at any time so I have no horse in the race or no hidden agenda. I have long got out of the webmaster business, sold off my sites and I'm more in distribution now. But it just sickens me when I see Affiliates pull these shady bs on the people who promote them. Time and time again, we see it happen. Then a few months later, those same "people" will pop up with a new affiliate program and new sites. I'm not just here picking on OtopusCash, although they are a shining example of shady since their paysites are still up and running. If you ran out of business, shouldn't your sites also be shut down??? It's just we have seen time and time again, the number of affiliates who screw the people who promote their shit and run away with money. More often than not, aside from ranting, webmasters don't do a thing to this shady affiliate prpgrams. Suing it out of the question because often it's too time consuming and the amount of money lost to these companies are simply not enough. And these companies know it, they are prey on that premise that you won't go after them and they will do it again and again. So getting back to the original title regarding sitting on the sideline long enough, I thought I would devote my time, and resources to do something about it. I mentioned it briefly in the past and half jokingly but after today, I am seriously thinking about moving forward with this and help give these shady affiliate companies a taste of what it feels to feel fucked. Maybe they will care, maybe they won't. At the very least, it will give the webmasters who got scammed out of payouts some measure of revenge, small revenge but still revenge. What is my plan? Here's where things get murky. And that's why I want to see your responses and see if you guys will support this or not. Ultimately, if I go ahead and do this, it will be to help our industry and the people in it. That's it. If you guys shoot down the idea, fine, no big deal. On to the plan, so these "shady affiliate companies", they run paysites and they have content right? What if "someone" launched a tube site, and on this tube site, there is a user upload option. I'm sure you guys are starting to get a picture now And users upload the shady affiliate company's content on the tube site? I mean all of it, assuming the uploader chooses to upload it. The tube site owner, will ensure the server is located offshore, and utilizing DMCA protected facilities. And if by mysterious circumstances, the shady affiliates send DMCA's to the site asking their content be removed, an email will be dispatched to them telling them that their content will be removed once they pay the affiliates they screwed over. Until then, they can GFY Would you guys on a whole support a tube site of this kind? Would you help promote it? Send traffic to it,etc... And for companies who would be targeted, they would be blatant scammer affiliate programs. Not the late for one month to pay their affiliates, because as distasteful as it is not getting paid on time, shit happens and sometimes good affiliate programs are just late paying. But the companies specifically who will have their content featured on the tube site are the blatant real scammers who screw their affiliates. Again, I have no horse in this race, no hidden agenda. Just sick and tired of seeing affiliates who work hard promoting these shady affiliate companies to put food on their table and get screwed at the end by these companies. It won't stop until we start doing something about it. Suing is not really an option, this is perhaps the next best thing to get some measure of revenge. Whether you are Friends or Frienemies on this board, to quote 2pac "We might fight amongst each other, but I promise you this; we'll burn this bitch down get us pissed" |

I always laugh at people who say they are thinking about doing this. Way to publicly implicate yourself making any lawsuits easy. It's hard to hide behind DMCA when you publicly state you are going to upload videos yourself.
So go ahead and do that. I'll sit on the sidelines and see what happens. |

Two wrongs don't make a right. This is a stupid idea. This is also an unlawful idea.
If the OP making a point, fine float the idea, however if the OP is seriously considering it then he's talking about conspiring to take part in criminal activity. |

The owner of the tube site is not uploading anything. The screwed affiliate would do it.

Like I said AdultKing, it's an idea, if the masses don't like it, the idea won't go beyond this stage. And I would not be the one running/owning the tube site if it goes through. Just lending my help, and resources to help it get up and running. A few of us have been discussing this privately about the idea. I will help in my own way but no way I would run/own the site. Not after posting it here and exposing myself to possible legality issues. But others will run/own the site

It's obvious you have no respect for intellectual property as you have ripped off the Pornhub logo in your Webcams Hub logo. Two wrongs don't make a right. We don't fix problems by perpetuating piracy or other forms of infringement. What you're talking about doing is wrong, patently wrong. |

You haven't thought this through obviously. Regardless of whether an affiliate program scammed affiliates or not, it's no excuse to act illegally. As an industry we rail against piracy, no matter what the motivation. |

You do realize that posting personal details is against the forum rules right AdultKing? It's my gf's site so you just pulled her personal info. I'm not stupid enough to have my whois information exposed as all of my paysites are whois protected . But if you feel the need to pull info, go ahead Guys who do business with me on the board knows that it's not my name you just pulled

The whois info is the same. By the way, WHOIS information is public information, it's allowed in the rules. |

Yes, all domain sales are handled by her. I post them here as she does not have an account. Some of us don't have multiple account names

Ok, well if you put your hair brained scheme into action she's obviously be a good person to start with when identifying your actual whereabouts.

Way to go using your girlfriend's name all over pornographic domain names because you lack a backbone to put your own up there. Only a real man would hide behind a woman.

She has no issue with it. She spends the money from the sales. Why should it concern you if she doesn't have a problem with it . That's the problem with guys like you Harmon, just from your post, you think porn is dirty and try to make it sound like we are in the dirty business but it's just business and there is nothing wrong with being involved in the porn industry.

Thanks, I got one . So much hate for the idea I see. Oh well, guess those shady affiliate program owners win another round.
At the end of the day, it's the webmasters who get screwed when shady affiliate owners know that guys like AK, Harmon, and 12clicks would rather protect the scammers than the people getting scammed It's a green light for those scammers to continue what they are doing under new programs |

It's stupid if you have paysites and you put your full name out there for the gov't,etc.. to see is what I meant. For her, I don't see the issue since she doesn't run any sites, she just sells undeveloped domains. I'm surprised by the responses where everyone is so concerned for my gf having her name on the whois of her domains but she's not. I'm sure if she cared enough, she would have whois protected her name.
