I met tons of people who couldn't afford to pay for a decent shooter, tons of people who wanted something good for their sites and simply couldn't afford it.

Think back to the level of some of the shooters shooting custom in 200 to more recently.

None could get into better paying markets, because they weren't good enough. Not even to do it as part of their business. Say 1 shoot a week for mags or videos and the rest for custom.

Then there was the prices paid. Even today Fabian says he pays $2,000 for 3 solo girl scenes. And that appears to be top dollar. It's not enough to get the Viv Thomas's, Jack Harrison, Scott Ward's, Steve Hicks or even the guy who used to shoot for Perfect Gonzo to shoot for Internet custom.

I've looked inside many sites and never seen a stills shooter who could of sold to magazines. Which prompted me to write this thread.

There were some very very basic mistakes being made. Mistakes that would never be made by a pro.

And even with sites that say they have tons of money and spend big on content. There are very very basic mistakes being made.

I know the story is that good content isn't so important. But when YOU buy a repeat product you do so on the satisfaction you got from the last purchase. You don't ignore the dis satisfaction. In fact that has far more effect on your decision making than satisfaction. Satisfaction is expected. And rightly so.

i try not to get involved too much, but here's one of your most obvious mistakes: you assume that everyone wants to see stuff those people shoot. but this is not the case. because it's mostly fake, artifical and boring. and too glamerous.

people enjoy shaky cameras, bad lighting and amateurish girls. you can shoot with your phone camera wearing a blindfold and still get a hot scene if the girl has fun

It's not that simple. Wish it was.

What the customer wants is the fantasy he needs delivered. It can be a girl getting out of a $1m car in front of a $10m mansion and dressed in designer clothing.

Or it can be BVF's girls in their houses.

What it has to have a shooter who knows how to deliver that fantasy in a professional and competent manner. Even if it's amateur it refers to the people in front of the camera, not the person holding the camera.

To shoot a girl like it was her BF or husband doing it is tough. It requires a personality, skill and experience that few have. IMO one of the best was John Mason in his best years. He had a way of communicating with girls that made them natural and he also shot a lot of Page 3 content so was able to operate at both levels. And shot content for English Heritage, so 3 levels.

Look at www.astral-blue.com to see what I could do. Learning from him I was able to make some professional girls be themselves and make new girls feel comfortable enough to reveal a lot of things.

Shooting at the top end requires a different skill, you need to instill in the model that you can shoot for Penthouse, know all the poses, looks, angles required and the photography skills. Michael Ancher IMO was great at this as was Viv Thomas.

Generally the higher the ladder a shooter could climb the more money he earned. That's why I left Amateur behind. The main reason is simple. 100 can shoot badly for every 1 who can shoot very well. And the same goes for sites.

If a site can truly move up the ladder it can move into a less supplied market. And more profitable market. Too many in online porn are at the bottom of the ladder, it's not always about what the customers want.

It's also about supply and demand.
