What do you think about Blekko [NB not a racist slur, but a search engine)

Like a cross between mahalo and google. Helps you avoid spam sites.

http://blekko.com/ws/+/about

Probably won't be taken up, but with some limited testing here, it's throwing up 'more' meaningful results for me than google on heavily spammed categories.

What say you?

My sites seem to be listed on it. Looks like a cool little engine, I could actually see this becoming something worthy.

The seo data is a neat feature. Stats are a little off but I expect that. Overall, I like it.

Nothing but a gimmicky tool to woo investors, get some VC and live it up and get out before it implodes.

shrug. thought it would be more of a google killer when read the rave review in tech crunch, but results seem no better than google, some worse.

there is so much going on with google beyond search that something focused solely in search results seems somewhat archaic. search engines will look like geocities in about five years.

Better results is for the surfers....it's going to be hard to pull people away from Google, when most basic searches are a snap to find.

With Blekko, all those pretty stats, toys, features are for people like me and you.

They need to get people like us using it first, with features that can compete with Google at the Webmaster level. Then... if they improve, able to grow, and clean up the surfer listings - "we" won't have a problem telling the world about it.

No other real way to compete with Google...

In a way, that is the point of it.... It's not really a search engine, it's a web search.

The way I see it, it shouldn't return the same results as Google, or better (yet at least) - I think, it will take more people using it to create those better results, group the social aspects of it mixed with searching with tags and keywords together.... then the results will clean up.

the results seem decent for the few searches I did, but the the name is terrible. Since they don't seem to own bleko.com I wold imagine a lot of people will forget the second "k" and end up somewhere else.

It's a really good tool for seeing where your competitors are getting their links from... I'm really finding it useful.
