I don't think it's a "cap" per say. Their intention was to never cap it and or shut it down. I think their intent was to simply place a new "nozzle" on it and continue pumping oil from it. No sense is shutting down a money maker. If they wanted to cap it, they could've done that a few days after it started to leak.

You didn't hear, Fletch capped it. He put his scuba steve suit on and dove down to the bottom with the new top hat on his back and got it all tight in place. The only reason it was closed was to test the pressure to find out if there are other undetected cracks / leaks. It won't remain closed.

The cap will just allow more oil to be siphoned to the oil tankers, there will still be leaking. The only solution that has proven to work time and time again is relief wells. We're still over 30 days from that being completed.

It doesn't matter anyways. The water is poisoned beyond belief. One small tropical storm or hurricane is going to spread the oil outside of any containment, and Mr. Obama is ensuring that sufficient tax dollars are being spent to keep all information on lockdown so that nobody knows exactly how bad the devistation is. haha no, not really dude. Just frustrated of the war tie tactics that the US gov is using to protect BP and suppress information along with pissing away money that should be used elsewhere instead of paying for officers/soldiers to keep the press out.

They've systematically ended the First Amendment rights for the Gulf spill so far as passing a law that ensures fines and felony charges are given for anyone approaching the oil spill area and taking pictures.

I just feel there is something inheriently wrong when a country touts Freedom as one if its core strengths and yet, suppresses said Freedom to protect the guilty and wage war on the minds of their citizens by suppressing the truth.

fyi, i'd worry about my own country if i were you, there are serious government censorship issues in canada. but, hey, it's easier to point your finger at what you are told to point at eh.
