Whats your source of traffic? These breakdowns don't match up with our general stats.

Internet Explorer 45.45%
Firefox 30.56% Chrome 8.68% Opera 5.89% Safari 5.52% Is what I show for me... Let's hope Chrome keeps climbing and IE is obliterated... I figured out what really pisses me off about IE. They DON'T do minor revisions so they're NEVER up to date. They just wait to release major versions (and security fixes) and so by the time they get them out the door they're already outdated. IE9's projected functionality / CSS support / etc... ALREADY doesn't compare to what's out there currently and it's not due out for another 8 months or so...

it works consistently and of course, who wouldn't view their sites as the majority of your customers do.

On top of that, why would I want to view anything in the worst browser available? with the slowest JavaScript engine? That's just idiotic... Of course I check everything for cross browser compatibility but that's the ONLY time I EVER open that pile of shit.

That makes no sense, by your explanation as soon as chrome gets more viewers and i start viewing websites in chrome , chrome will all of a sudden stop working and become shit ? Thats your opinion , obviously the rest of the earth has a different opinion.

1) take a look at: http://caniuse.com/
2) You are missing the point... what I'm saying is IE renders shit differently than every other browser... e.g. something can be coded and will look fantastic in every browser BUT IE. So it forces developers to have to do separate things for IE to make them look correct. For example if you want rounded corners you have to make little images or some BS hack to make it work correctly rather than using the CSS3 property border-radius... 3) It's not my opinion, it's a fact. IE supports less standards than every other major browser. IE renders HTML the slowest of any browser. IE has the slowest JS parser of any browser. These three things comprise the core performance and worth of any given browser as far as accessing, parsing, and displaying "web content"... Not to mention they update less often than everyone else... So I'm sorry, what exactly makes IE good? What are the pros exactly? The vast majority of people still using Internet Explorer are the ones that don't know there ARE other browsers, the rest are ones that don't understand how far behind IE is than every other browser... The only reason it's popular is because it comes with Windows... seriously.

i could care less what goes on behind the scenes to make my browsing experience good. i can tell you chrome and firefox don't always work , i.e. works more often. firefox is a mem hog and crash happy. i stop listening when you start pulling "facts" out of thin air .. you said i.e. is the worst browser around is a fact ? cmon now, i understand your tenacity but calling something FACT that is an OPINION based statement is silly. Thats like saying a car is the "worst" car ever, it is an opinion , not a fact , unless you are using some criteria to base it on. never claimed it was "good" never made any claims in this dept. I think you may be misunderstanding what I'm calling a "fact". It's a fact that IE is the worst browser... I arrive at this conclusion by evaluating the core requirements for making a web browser a web browser. Everything here is based on math.
The same with cars, if you look at horsepower, torque, safety features, etc... of two different cars you can easily determine which car is "better". That does NOT mean that everyone should LIKE the "best" car... It simply means that one car is better (statistically) than another. Your opinion on which car you LIKE better is an opinion for sure ;) But that doesn't mean that choice is "better" ... Damn semantics! LOL

you don't like i.e. we get it, you make yourself look silly trying to argue that i.e. is the "worst browser" based on math. Show us your math and the resulting "scores" Quote:
no you cant unless the criteria is clearly defined beforehand. example car #1 has more horsepower car #2 is more fuel effecient which one is better ? the answer of course depends on how big of a factor fuel effeciency and horsepower play into the final "score", if you feel horsepower plays a bigger role you would mathematically choose car#1 if fuel effeciency was a bigger role you would choose car #2 , both could be methmatically correct depending on the situation. it's not semantics , it's the fundamentals behind answering an opinion based question.

Well I already linked you one, it has all the math AND the "scores" at the end... (for CSS support)
If you REALLY want to, go ahead and lookup JS Engine benchmarks, HTML render benchmarks, etc... You'll see that Internet Explorer is always at the bottom. That is the math I'm referring to... And yes, I agree, the criteria would have to be defined before hand. But again that doesn't necessarily mean that a person may like one better... and this conversation has been going back and forth between what IS better, what one person LIKES better... So the semantics I'm referring to here is revolving around the word "better"... My comment was laughing at the ridiculousness of all this since it's been so heavily based in semantics...

p.s. what is the best car around bestxxporn ? you should be able to simply plug in the same math you used to figure out "worst browser" and tell us. you could be rich , none of the car magazines have ever been able to do this and nobody ever agrees on the best car , but according to you its easy math right ?
oh wait , you would need to know the criteria behind what makes a car "better" right ? and how important each of the criteria play right ? and we would basically have to agree on the criteria first in order for it to actually work otherwise i could say "shape" is the only important factor and it certainly wouldnt make the answer correct right ?

Maybe now you understand how "better" is an OPINION based judgement based on criteria YOU have decided in your head, for something to be FACTUALLY "better" you would have to have criteria BOTH sides agree on beforehand.

You don't read very well, I'm done with this thread, I wasn't trying to be a dick but you're really hung up on this whole "better" thing and you're not even defending what I was bashing...
I say you don't read very well because I stated way back in the thread that there are three things I'm basing it off of... you didn't argue them so I assumed you accepted them. Therefor the basis of what is "better" was established, you just missed out. So yeah, IE sucks, it's the worst browser (based on all performance metrics and standards support)... you can't even provide me reasons as to why it is better, or even good, so... not sure you can argue this one.

"is" better is an opinion unless both parties have agreed on the criteria to judge what "is" better, otherwise you just "like" it better based on criteria YOU have decided in your head that other people may or may not agree on.

I'm very pro-google, but I want to ditch Chrome.
I had to resort to using IE to enter a few sites lately. I spent 3 days thinking Adobe's site was down when I needed to download After Effects cs5, but Chrome was the problem.

just to recap , your opinion based claim had nothing to with i.e. being better or good, your claim was i.e. is the worst browser based on math, math that apparently guessed numbers for all the other browsers in the world.

IE is still on top, an IE9 Preview looks really good. the problem with those stats is the more new browsers that come out of course IE's precentage will drop because there's more to share.

What's worst is Firefox is going downhill fast, it was the king in my opinion of streamline browser with exceptional speed but now it's bog down slower than IE. Sad really
