just read it over. pretty funny. the examples he uses are for terms like "bob's chip shop lawrence kansas" that no one goes for anyway and will rank for that without an seo strategy or not.

just try and rank for a heavily competitive commercial term just on quality content and social networking alone and see how far you get.

the great thing about these seo experts they are so misguided they thankfully send everyone working in the wrong direction.

seo always changes it's dynamic with standard guidelines. they are saying the same stuff about caffeine and how it's a "seo killer". if you optimize for relevancy, clean structure/code (including visitor aesthetics) and use best practices none of this should matter...
