DELL Inc. - A Love/Hate Relationship Story.

So I get an Email from DELL about Fast Track systems. If you have ever ordered a computer online from DELL you will know that if you order your system on Sept 3rd, 2009 you will probably get it around Sept 28th, 2009. It will take them 3 full weeks to finally get off their ass and assemble your system.

So this Fast Track thing. They say if you take it how we already have it, we will have it out of our building within 3 to 5 business days. So I bite. Not thinking, I buy the system on a Thursday... the 3rd... Five FULL business days in the 10th and with shipping it wil be here the 15th. Almost two weeks later!

OK... What ever... I guess by fast track they mean the middle of the month instead of the end.

So I get an Email stating the new date is the 19th... WTF? Then I get another one on the 15th stating the 28th. They say I now have the option to cancel. I say fuck it... Lets go... Then I get another one on the 19th stating Oct 2nd...

Which part of Fast Track didn't they get?

I canceled.

Then I went to the outlet and found the same system with more memory, a bigger hard drive, an upgraded graphics card, an upgraded sound card and a faster processor for $100 less than the FT system.

And... They will have it here on Tues. The 29th...

Never again will I buy a new DELL system.

I don't have that kind of patience.

Always buy the parts and build your own. I've always been happier with machines I build myself. You'll save some money too.

I owned a retail company that also would UPS everyday. Trust me, it doesn't take 3-5 days to ship something in-stock.

Do you have an account manager at Dell? I have bought Dells on Monday, and had the truck backing up to the door on Wednesday with my pc's. Maybe things are different now, my last Dell purchase was 2006 or so.

DELL has put 80% of their work for assembly into outsourced companies.... They almost don't do anything themselves anymore.

It is really starting to show!
