I think it takes passion to work on something really hard and for a long period of time.

False. You need to be good at what you love too.
I love cooking, I love golf, I love fishing, I love this and that.. yet, I'm not good enough to earn money on any of those activities. I do love webdesigning, and I do make money from there.. however, if I could make my living playing golf. I'd switch.

NEVER gonna happen. I'm too old, and too shit of a player

Very true. At least in my case.

I built sites for me. My most profitable sites were always done for me first, money second. My first celebrity site. The others that followed. Then the original porn productions when I went into adult full time.

I did for me first, and the rest took care of it's self.

I have heard ShoeBitch, as well as others, say the same thing. If you build a good site for people that have, or add a 'value'.... SEO, popularity, traffic, and the rest will take care of it's self over time. You do not need to worry about gaming it, or working on ways to monetize it. At least like you would on some site you are less passionate about, or going into just for the money aspect.

well if you love cooking it doesnt mean you have to make a living cooking, love cooking would also mean you know allot about cooking related stuff, same with fishing and golf, meaning you might have an idea for a product or service for fishermen or something for the kitchen etc, you might see a need that the avg joe wont see etc and when you do and you decide to make things happen in a market you understand you have a better chance of making it

True enough. I do actually have food related sites etc, so I suppose I'm combining the stuff I'm good at, and even enjoy. Doing what you love may be more important than making tons of money. If you have a job you love, it doesn't matter necessarily that you won't become rich, as long as you can survive. I'd rather take a job that I like which pays less, than do something shit for TONS and TONS of money, millions even. I'm weird, I know.
Luckily I do like webdesign, or actually 'creating something'.

I just need to make a child so I can force him/her to do sports and be everything I've been unable to accomplish. Isn't that what daddies do, force their kids to live their own dreams? ;)

I think it's true when it comes to Niche related stuff. Only if you're truly into a certain niche you'll know/understand how to market it properly.

It's true. The more love and effort you put in it, the more it will show in results.
But it needs to have the right intentions also.

There is some portion of truth in that. But most of the time it will work for students, like in my case.

I started in both adult and mainstream online business while still in school. Eventually it started making me money and turned into a fulltime job.

But if I wasn't studying at the time, I'd have had to settle for a job I probably wouldn't like to pay the bills, and learn online marketing in the spare time.

Depends really. In some cases, the answer would be Yes. But it's not always the case. Some people put their heart and soul into something, only for it to now work out sadly...

It's a catch phrase for those who have already made a lot of money.
They love making money. So for them, it's true.

Most people don't do what they love because the money does not follow, and so they have to do "work" to pay the bills.

But if you kept at it and made it your full time job, maybe make a charity out of it. You could make some money from the Charity for your time.

As an overall rule I would have to say false.

Work: It's a question of supply and demand - it's MUCH easier and cheaper to hire people to do fun stuff. I owned a computer/hobby store for 20 years and we never had trouble finding people who wanted to work there at minimum wage. Before that I used to work at a nursing home dealing with the physically and mentally disabled. REALLY hard work! That paid really well, but it needed to because even at double to triple minimum wage it was hard to get employees.

Self Employed: As far as being self employed - it's awesome if what you like to do is actually marketable! You can put all your free time into it without burning out (early on) because you're mixing your recreation with your work. Good luck with that though - how many people can make money playing slot machines or World of Warcraft or wine tasting or collecting Pat Benatar memorabilia.

Production: If you don't like or care about what you're selling or producing, it usually shows, so in that case, you really need to "love" or at least care about the subject you're producing. Sometimes a producer will be hired to film a number of fetish films and if he has no feel for the individual fetish - it'll come across seeming really fake and cheesy.

So that's my long answer to the question.

Very True, I see it all the time, people that enjoy their jobs or have dedicated their main focus on doing what they love, they make a decent living out of it.
