I just ate a whole turkey
This atkins diet rocks, i just ate a whole fucking turkey...& my doctor assures me i'll lose weight no matter what,...i can eat all the fucking meat i want.
I've been on it for like 3 days now, i can't take a decent shit anymore, but fuck...if i can lose weight eating meat im there! Anyone else try this shit? I'm not sure of all the "Atkins Diet" rules (other than no carbs at all) So if you know any tips, or any idea's for snacks i'd sure appreciate it

it does work.
I lived off of bacon double cheeseburgers (without the bread) for amonth and lost a lot of weight. I stopped it cuz I was always backed up, and you can't drink alcohol on it. rought |

My understanding is that even a moderate amount of time with the body forced into ketosis can have very bad lasting effects. I also hear that, although it may kill or cripple you in the long run, it kicks all kinds of ass for immediate weight loss.

I'm on a similar diet, I don't order side dishes anymore, and only eat the main "meat" course of the meal, and only eat until I'm satisfied. I stop before I get "full".
I've also been eating green vegetables, and fruit. I have also been drinking lots of water. I've lost like 15lbs in the past 2 weeks. I was at 180lbs wearing just my boxers, now I'm down to 165lbs fully clothed. So, yeah, it works great. Just try to stay away from "grain" products, and you'll be fine.

Pro...my Mom is on that diet and lost a bunch.
My cousin was a big ol boy. Built like a fuckin Ox and he went on it.. He's lost like a 100 pounds in 6 months since being on it. Only thing he eats is meat. |

I couldn't see with my eyes open, I couldn't hear, and the next thing I knew I was being revived by an EMT with an oxygen mask, and a light shining in my eyes. Very scary shit. Just be careful with radically changing your diet. In any case, I would recommend slowly modifying it until you get to where you want to be. Sort of like "retraining" your body for a new diet. Anyhow, I don't want to write a novel here (already have), but, just wanted to look out for you, and share some of what I've expierenced.

Read the book. People try these diets and have no clue the chemical changes in their bodies are the reason you lose weight, but essentially what you are doing is changing your body from a sugar burning unit to a carb burning unit - its a process that has to take time. Ketosis. The doctors who wrote the 'Sugar Busters' diet used to speak at my college. I learned a lot from them regarding metabolism - sugars and digestion. ![]()

How about my patented "eat healthy and eat lots" diet?
lean meat -- lots. fresh lightly cooked veggies -- tons fruit and fruit juices -- huge amounts whole grain breads and cereals - voracious portions and cup after cup of wonderful lifegiving coffeee. After all that, if you have room, pretty much anything goes, as long as you walk or do some physical activity at least 3 - 4 times a weak. More is better. .... okay maybe it's not patented. I lied.

That doesn't include incidentals like the energy expended in doing the actual things we were walking places to do. Every since my early teens, I've just been bigger than most other people. In high school, it was no big deal. I was 240 but all that moving around (and all that being young) kept me pretty solid. I would say I was no more than 30lbs overweight at 240. I know that's a lot, but now that I am a little older and a little slowed down, I have more like 100 to lose. I'm not a total porker, I'm strong and I don't get out of breath climbing to my 3rd-floor apartment, but after so much failure at trying to get rid of extra weight, I can definitely see the appeal in something like the Atkins diet. After a while, you just want the weight gone even if it means a risk to your health. SpaceAce |
