What this industry needs desperately is a summit meeting

Before this industry goes completely into the toilet I think as a whole we should at least give it a shot at trying to save our own businesses by whatever means we may have.
I think it's time for a summit meeting of those who might be smart enough, might have the resources to actually do something - those excluded are those with a history of shady billing practices and involvement in 'user submitted' tube sites, 5-10 medium sized paysite owners(100-200 sales a day), and 5-10 of the largest free site owners. 20-30 people, that's it - to discuss the challenges that the entire industry is facing and to consider what actions can be taken if any.

Your logic's already flawed toots.

If you really think the 'BROS' have the whole industry's best interests in mind you are lost. You need to go to more conferences, and seminars. Listen.

Only then.. will you come to see the truth.

The medium, smaller, and niche players have more of the 'best interest' in mind when it comes to the "industry" then the BROS or fry cooks. The 'men in the middle' for lack of better term are the sweet spot.

I've always said I can't believe there is no industry group in adult. Every other industry has one.

hahaha.

good luck man.

will never happen.

we couldnt even get people to get together and be serious about stopping piracy, let alone saving an entire market space.

good luck though.

what it really needs is a couple well placed hand grenades.

Exactly right.

Go a conference and listen to your "BROS" and "ballas".

It's crystal clear they only have their own self serving interests in mind.

Not any symbiotic circle jerk for the "best welfare of the industry" toots.

I suggest we implement an industry wide tax. We form a foundation that will take 39% of all sales from anyone making over 250 sales a week. We will take that money and spread it around to make sure everyone in this industry gets some of it. I would like to put myself in charge of the distribution of said wealth. Ill decide who gets what, and how much. Its not fair to tax anyone that makes less than 250 sales a week (for now). The more sales you make the more we will assist you in redistributing those sales to the needy. At 350 sales your percentage will go up to 52%, at 450 66%, and so on and so forth. Everyone needs to do their part in this.

this industry is in the maturing and consolidation phase... tube sites and the devaluing of content are just some of the strategies that the big players use to force the smaller players out of the market. economics 101...

How about this idea...

Someone who is way better than me at designing a site, registers a name like HonestPornSites.com (which is available as I am typing this).

Develop the site to list only sites that are honest to both the surfer, as well as those in the industry who care to be involved.

An honest place where a surfer can go to find sites that do not rip them off in any way. Sites that do not post misleading join prices - sites that do NOT offer ANY cross sales whatsoever - sites that offer a generous amount of content for the price, etc. And for the further good of the industry, no sites may be listed if the owners are involved with tube sites or cross sales.

A seal of approval can be created, like maybe the HPS Seal of Approval (if the site is HonestPornSites.com for example).

Then, all of us who run clean sites can download the seal of approval banner to display on own sites, which would link back to the honest-review site, where the surfer can feel a bit better joining a "HPS Approved" website.

All I want is a great advertising spot on this site, in return for the idea - lol!

Well, what do you think? The site would be great for surfers because they can double check to see if the site they want to join is honest and worthwhile. Meanwhile the industry draws a simple line in the sand - one side maintains some level of honesty and integrity, and the other side is left to implode within itself, as it is currently doing right now.

i'd love to see people's legs being broken and their houses torched - that's the way the original porn pioneers did it.

sorry you give them way too much credit - even the biggest companies in Net porn are essentially mom and pop operations. they are not acting in concert, they aren't conspiring to force out the little guys. their strategy is survival just like it is for the smallest fish.

those that are into the tube scene big time are not dumb, they see where this is all heading - they have little to worry about from a legal liability angle, paysites and content may become worthless but traffic will never be worthless. without anything to get in the way of tube sites there is no stopping them.

all that will be left are a small group of surfers who know what they like and would rather pay 30 dollars a month for it rather than rummage through a tube site for it.
unfortunately there's not nearly enough of those type of people out there to justify the costs of producing what they want.

This industry has 'summit meetings' all the time, it's better when it isn't advertised when and where and how it's going to happen. I suspect you get alot of unwanted opinions that mean nothing when you do that.

The niche and micro niche site owners have never really mattered much in peoples eyes, unless your niche can be replicated with ease (thought wise at least) by anyone with a camera and willing model.
Often such site owners either do not rely on affiliates, or those that do have already formed pretty solid relationships with people that are good for their business. This alone often keeps them well outside of any limelight. So naturally their opinions would mean much much less to the general adult public. If you do not work with them in some way- they are nobodies as far as most are concerned. Forget that they often have the wants, needs, and service that the customers are after. Nor that they beat out most when it comes down to member value.

People have always had such an interest in forming such groups and stopping much of the shady shit. These ideas are far from new. Groups wanted to form or tried even long before the first rounds of major card rule shake ups. Just now there is a few thousand more people involved than in the past (despite that way to many claim to be from the 90's) and a portion want a cleaner industry.

Like it really needs to be done in person... ah never mind.
Carry on with everyone's preconceived notions.

Everyone at shows drink until they puke, parties non stop, and never does any business what so ever.

Everyone needs to do their part in this so to get the most out of this new effort the more work you do policing your content the more muscle we'll be able to provide to help you.

Still Apples and Oranges but if you're going to try, may as well do it right. ;)
