SEO - Private Whois question

Hi to all,

In a mainstream website context, do google penalize a domain name with private whois ?

There is no such thing as 'private' registration for Google. They know exactly who's behind it and what other domains/hosts is he associated with.

Private registrations are stored at the registrar level, Google wouldn't have access to exact registrations, only individual registrars would.

i'm guessing there is the possibility of side-deals.. what is the legality of that?

Ok, no matter if google access private whois or not, my question is : do Google "think" that if you are behind a private whois then you are trying to hidde something so your search results and ranking will be screwed ?

Or google will just index your website with no problem ?

Private whois does not have any effect on SEO as far as I can tell.

I recently switched my whois to private and I did not notice and negative effect with Google. I was worried there would be but I have not seen any drop off in one month or so.

Google is its own registrar now. No domain information is private to them.

I have not noticed any difference between my sites with private whois and my sites without it. Pornhub is nr 1 for ?porn? with private whois?
