:stop My suggestion for keeping webmaster content out of the hands of thieves, tube sites

Ok, here it goes.

I have noticed programs that have been removing their webmaster content such as movies and pictures zips. These programs inculde, but are not limited to Twistys, BangBros, etc.

They are asking that you contact them in order to be able to access the content. The only reason imaginable I can think of that they are doing this is to prevent people from signing up as an affiliate and robbing them of the content that they provide to use for promos, galleries, etc.

My suggestion is that all programs begin using a system of charging affiliates the base price of their website, and crediting back their affiliate accounts the price they paid for the "membership" to the affiliate content.

So let's just say program "X" charges $34.95US to join their website for the average surfer. Program "X" should charge the affiliate the same price to access their promo content. NOW! When webmaster "Y" pays the money to grab the content, the amount is immediately deposited into their payout.

We all know that most affiliate programs require at least $50-$100 in sales in order to cut the check. Well, if these people do not promote, they never see their money back. It's as simple as that. They get one month to start bringing in sales or they rebill or are cancelled as an affiliate.

This would wipe out a ton of bullshit theft in the industry and only serious webmasters would follow the rules.

I know, some will say, "I need to see the content before I will promote.... blah blah..."

Fine, give them samples of pics and low grade movies. Anyone worth their weight in gold in this industry already knows what converts, retains etc. The rest? Fly by nights.

Thoughts?

I only put 30 second clips in the members area for affils anyhow. steal away. its branding. people get tired of the same clips on their favorite tube and type in. you can only beat it to the same thing a few times. if your stuff is good enough they might type in and buy, otherwise they're a full on leech and i don't want them using the bw on my tours anyhow. once you really dive into tube you see the potential. i want people to steal my 30 sec clips and put them up there for me.

what is the 34.95 to someone who is gonna use it on a tube or forum that they are gonna make 10x+ off of content. Meanwhile the programs have paid a lot more for it then 34.95.

Fair enough, but as a webmaster you know that this isn't true for all programs.

I doubt many webmasters would agree to being charged like, I know I wouldn't. Even if you get a refund, it doesn't matter, I'm not going to deal with transactions like that to market a sponsor.

pain in the ass.

id rather just talk to the a rep and get a pass to the site.

its no surprise to me that bangbros and twistys did that. they had a ton of free content in their affiliate area. most sponsors though just throw in 30 sec - 2 min videos so i don't think the problem is that wide spread. at least not enough to go to such extreme measures as you've posted above.

Interesting concept in theory if every single affiliate program did it. I understand your point but why should legit wm's have to even go through that hassle. Then think of the rogue programs that would fuck around and abuse this system.

I for one would never whip out a CC to start promoting a program with their content.

What percentage of pirated content is webmaster content? I would be blown away if it was even 1% since that content typically sucks.

How bout just an affiliate approval process where you can check and cross reference information like urls, whois, and email. That would be a much simpler process and many already do this.

Every website member should be an affiliate by default.

Website membership shouldn't cost anything but instead optional upgrades to their
membership should be available for a fee.

Content should be easily accessable, restricted access to the bulk of it sure, but if it's
promo content then its designed to be free and seen/reposted by everyone affiliate or not.

While.... no I won't pay to access your content. Instead I expect free entry to your
members section and all the content I can download, based on my being a webmaster. If
a member demostrates they are sending referials they should have credits meaning they
don't pay either.

Only difference between a webmaster and surfer in this Web2.0 world is the title.
Especially when most adult webmasters don't even know HTML.

Any content you want to protect from easy reposting by your members should be
streaming with a tokenized system protecting it's location. As stated in another thread,
improvements to Flash may see this tokenizing extend to the client, while Vista locks
down stream pathways so they can't be middle-man'd. However really..... If your site
offers anything as a real site then even if your content is everywhere the surfers should
still have added benefit by joining your site.
