I make well over 100k per year and just bought a $2k car last week (1997 opel astra). I got fed up taking the bus! lol

Penny24Seven 07-28-2007 05:09 AM

If I sold them they might all be under 10K but I have 3 cars so does that still count? 2001 camaro, 2006 mustang and 2005 chevy truck. mustang is probably more then 10K but they are not worth much anyway.

"anyone here earning more than $100k per year and driving a car worth less than $10k?"

The smart one's do:2 cents:

xcitecash 07-28-2007 11:27 AM

we have a great car but i choose to drive our $400 Fiat Punto every day does that count

webgurl 07-28-2007 12:03 PM

cars are alot more here (canada) than the US
Not sure about regular cars but nicer cars like
bmw, mercedes , Porsche .....
The worst part about it , is the USD now almost on PAR
with CND dollars the prices of cars remain the same .
So like a Porsche Cayanne S in USD sell for 65-70k new there
its like 80K here in Canada . Then u add on all the mumbo jumbo upsells
and taxes its well over 100k . :( Sucks

Good for you! Smart to put your money where it really earns for you. You had more dedication then most taking the bus though!

was up until about 6 months ago, had a 1996 audi a4, sold it for about $2500 :/

anne 07-28-2007 03:50 PM

I drive a 93 toyota avalon that i think its worth 6500. Its paid off and just keeps kicking so I dont see a reason to get a flashy car. Plus there are so many other things to spend money on that are way more important. :)

There's no point in being buried in a casket lined with 100 dollar bills.

You guys who mention Gates,Buffet and the ultra rich. They own cars they like, but they also own Limo's and get driven.

They could also fly commercial and really save the $$$. But they own incredible private jets.

YOU are the prime example of excessive spending though, although you probably wouldn't agree that such term even exists.

Then again I don't know you at all - I know you are an oldtimer in this biz and you must be really very succesfull.

So if you are making like $3 Million each year then sure thing, you can afford to buy a new Lambo each year with absolutely no problems.

This thread wasn't really about people like you though.

until recently, I used to have a 95 chevy full size cargo van that I loved driving. I did drive it into the ground sort of,just needed way too much work,so I reluctantly sold it this spring.:( Yes I do have some bling machines as well:winkwink:

flashfire 08-01-2007 01:33 AM

I earn more than 100k and drive a 15k truck and 5k Jeep...but I bought them both with cash

Well Dunn 08-01-2007 01:45 AM

My car is booked at like 8k I think, and I will probably hang on to it for awhile.

Flynn 08-01-2007 01:18 PM

How many people have posted in this thread drive shitty cars and don't make 100k?

X37375787 08-01-2007 01:25 PM

pornguy 08-01-2007 02:42 PM

I have a 2002 F150 Shortbed sport. It is an extended cab lightening. Nice ride, and worth about 17k.

Dopy 08-01-2007 03:01 PM

Anyone paying themselves 100k+ from adult business and then buys a car with cash is either very stupid or never sees the tax man.

Phoenix 08-01-2007 03:05 PM

Sold the Hummer H2 before I came back to Holland....
Sold the Jaguar 2 months after I arrived in Holland because it was a right
hand drive car which just wasn't worth to get on Dutch license plates.....
and it sucks to drive in Holland with a right hand drive car.

The Harley stayed though......all though I'm rebuilding that one so it's not
drivable at the moment lol.....I'm gonna move back to Barcelona Spain next
year.....then I'll spoil myself with a new car......not sure what yet. Probably
an Audi S4 as I might get away selling that to the wife as being a family car

steved 08-19-2007 08:10 AM

I have a 1995 Volvo with 250,000 miles on it that runs great which cost me $1,500 a few years ago. My second car is a 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix that I got for $15k last year.

Beejeebers 08-19-2007 08:33 AM

I just don't care what I drive. Cars are the worst investment you can have.

That's the truth. My Nav is worth a little over a quarter of what I paid for it (and that's buying it outright, I can't imagine if I had gone with payments). My other car is a classic, the plan was never to flip it to turn a profit, but man, what a money pit. I'm on my 3rd engine. Can't bring myself to get rid of the beast. :Oh crap

ShellyCrash 09-05-2007 09:44 PM

Also on the cheap end, I think the Suzuki Aerio is a fun car. It's my perfered rental car of choice :thumbsup

I used to take one out every time I went to vegas, but lately I've been having trouble finding them.

splooge 09-05-2007 10:09 PM

i drive a 2000 bmw 323 ... its worth less than $10k though

Paul Markham 09-05-2007 10:33 PM

Why do people equate the car you drive with your income?

I drove a three year old Ford Focus up until Xmas, then changed it for another Ford focus. It gets me from A to B in comfort and the most important thing is what's playing on the stereo.
