No, wire strung between roofs would be easy to spot and dangerous for any helicoptors. I would guess he had the pole running up to his waist with some sort of safety harness attached.

this guy is a marketing genius, if there is one thing that is as good as selling porn it's selling magic. Beginning at 2:08, you can see the mirrored platform from the helicopter shots. It's pretty obvious to my eyes. He's standing on a small disk sending up firm attachments to his legs - which are mysteriously still and slightly bent as he relies on them for a bit of support.
