I love my macs, I never ever say that about any of my PCs. I hate all the bullshit that comes with a windows PC nowadays, settings scattered throughout the OS, Pop up notification bubbles, activation, viruses, spyware, complicated dialog menus, drivers, security etc etc.

For me, the mac just feels better. I love using it, I love the hardware, I love the community, I love the software.

The difference is mac users love their macs and OS X, very rarely do you hear people say the same about Windows. Whatever you use is cool I guess.

I love all my PCs

Mac sucks!!!

Mac is not for gaming

Mac and virus

and the main reason to use a pc...

I have both mac and pc in my office, and I can say without a doubt that I prefer mac. I find myself curing the pc everytime I have to use it (which i do daily).
When it comes to creative apps (photo/vid/audio), i don't think PC can even compete with MAC.
When it comes to book keeping and other software options, i'll admit that the Mac options frustrate me sometimes. When trying to get tax software that would allow me to print a 1099, I ended up having to go with PC software, for lack of availability.
There are both sides of the coin for you. It really depends on what you intend to do with this computer.
Oh, and as others have already stated, it's now possible to run Windows on your MAC.

PS, MAC fixes exploits in record time compared to windows, who uses the launch as the actual beta-test, waiting to hear back from the first buy suckers that got owned, so they can figure out what's wrong with it.

I shoot in 1080i at a resolution of 1920x1080. HDV IS the best choice hands down for online HD content period.

Btw since you have forgot more than I know, please lets hear what HD camera or HDV camera you currently own, or have own, or have shot with. Ive seen several statements you've made about HD that are completly wrong, and many of the big content producers shooting in HD told you you were wrong.

i don't know why people have this mac/pc debate anymore, they are both so fast these days, each with their own benefits....it basically is up to you, try a mac and if you like it, grab one, if not, oh well

i really think people that still participate in the mac/pc debate are just caught up in the old 90's way of thinking

I dont really care either way, the thing I hate is the elite crap the mac side tries to pull, and then act like a pc is only good to be used as a calculator, yet SOMEHOW millions of people manage to do EVERYTHING they need without drinking coffee or buying a mac. lol

wtf are you running, windows 98?

I have two machines running windows xp
I never get pop up notifications
I activated ONCE, a year ago
I have not had any virus issues in at least a year
spyware isn't even an issue, complicated dialog menus? um, yeah, us smart people like more options, sorry if it confuses you
drivers? I plug in new shit and it works, what are you having issues with?
security? in what way?

you really sound lik you are running an old version of windows, have you upgraded recently?

I agree man, it is just SILLY fight anymore....macs and pc's are both awesome machines, there is no need to fight with someone because they prefer one over the other

one thing I always notice though, is when a pc user speaks up about using a pc in a group of mac people, all KINDS of mis-information flies

but when a mac user speaks up about using a mac in a group of pc people, pc people get inquisitive and ask questions

wonder why that is?

Jace 02-04-2007 05:15 PM

and just to squash everyones view that I am a mac hater...I have 3 computers in my house, 1 mac and 2 pc, plus I am about to order a new macbook in the next month

Who has said I was wrong, actually a few have agreed with me especially those who shoot with hvx200. The cams I have tried sony fx ,z1 and Ive tired the hvx200 (which is true hd).I was very excited when HDV came out , sat thru demo of the first one which was a jvc one chipper, then sat thru the sony ones.None of them impressed me and my friend who shoots fulltime mainstream still shoots most of his stuff on beta. Ive studied videography under a man who has won a Emmy,I studied cinemography under a award winning independent film maker. I just dont see the small porn world. I have yet to see porn footage on hdv that was nothing to write home about.People go a wow not because its better its because its bigger but that dont mean better. The only hd footage on line that truly blew me away was for RED.

Lykos 02-04-2007 07:53 PM

Here wanna see what HDV can do? This film was shot with the FX1 and Z1U both HDV cams.

Its 1.3GB but the torrent is incredibly fast.

Download the torrent

Goto the preview on that torrent site. Legal to download put there for public viewing.

stickyfingerz 02-04-2007 08:34 PM

Jace, you should make a distinction between the people that are just using 'HD' as a selling point and the people that are actually striving for a higher level of quality. There are plenty of sites out there that are jumping on the ambiguity that is 'HD' and 'High Definition'. If the bitrate isn't at a minimum of 3.25Mbps for a 1280x720 wmv, the quality is lacking and you'll just get the it's 'just bigger' result.

Doctor Dre 02-04-2007 11:42 PM

Since last year... not much of a difference... both can run windows, both run on PC chips...

Actually there is a huge difference. Yes, both run Window but why anyone would need to run Wondows besides a couple of specialty apps is beyond me. Apple OS runs flawlessly with their hardware and the OS is light years beyond Windows.

I know about the sites selling something they don't have, that has been happening since the invention of paysites

that sample you posted looks all right, but still doesn't make me wanna believe that hd for porn is this amazing innovation....it looks like just high quality shot porn to me

Mitch

please go into more detail, because all that you did was exactly what every mac user does, just spew out vague cut downs without any backing up of you claims

let's do it this way, if I had a dual xeon 4gb ram box sitting here with me, why would a mac be better than that?

yes, but is that porn? I agree that HD is awesome shot for hollywood movies, my point is that I haven't seen any porn that makes it worth it...some is a little higher quality, but usually just bigger...LOL

i will say this though, if porn is going to take the step in the HD direction, it is going to have to start using better backdrops than motel beds and crappy furniture...step out of the box and fuck on a bridge that overlooks a beautiful landscape, or find some old warehouse settings and light them up all spectacular, etc....

the few samples I have seen are just hotels or 80's mansions with the same old props, nothing that brings out the "HD" in the dvd

OSX = For people who like being told what to do.
Windows = For people who like like to point, click and can problem solve.
Linux = For people who like to feel smarter than the average person and like to type everything in rather than click it.

Well maybe you should explain it, cuz none of them make any sense. Mac people like to be told what to do, and Windows like to click? uh.. ok.
