So one of my friend is REALLY broke. I mean, when ever we go out i pay for everything. I was thinking about employing him. Anyone done this before? Is it a good idea?

I'm about to hire an online friend that I've had for years. We go way back on the boards and such. Once he has completed the test, it will be up to me to take him or not. However, even before taking the test, I told him that we go way back in the online world and all, but I will not tolerate a slacker when I pull off 24-hour work days to get things done on time. I'm not asking that he keeps my pace, but he must really work at it because I will not hesitate to let him go.

I have absolutely no pity for slackers. Slacking is all good, as long as it is done as far away from me as possible.

Sounds like there might be a reason why he doesn't have a job/money. It really all depends on the people. I've hired/worked for friends/family where sometimes it's awful, sometimes it's perfect.

If the arrangement is professional and you have system in place it should be find. Make sure everything is clearly laid out and then the work relationship is on them to make it go smoothly.

From too much personal experience I would have to say...

BAD FUCKING IDEA, MAN!!!!

The only people I have "buddied" up with and actually made a lot of money is perfect strangers...

Like I read a thread here were someone has some good ideas or has a lot of drive but no ideas to apply it to... I grab them and make a partnership and we both make a few extra K a month on it...

But with friends you spend a few extra K and nothing comes from it except for your wife/girlfriend saying to you, "Either you fire him and never talk to him again or I am out because I can't handle this shit anymore!"
