thought about it, not good idea imo

Been there, done that, bad idea. Doesnt matter what rules you put in place, it destorys your friendship.

TimBlaze 01-23-2007 02:55 AM

if its something like doing a specific task for example helping move furniture, putting up a fence, etc. work like that can be done very good with a friend

but business is usually a diff story

if you get what im sayin

Don't do it..

When you have to give him the flick - your friendship suffers greatly.

From too much personal experience I would have to say...

BAD FUCKING IDEA, MAN!!!!

The only people I have "buddied" up with and actually made a lot of money is perfect strangers...

Like I read a thread here were someone has some good ideas or has a lot of drive but no ideas to apply it to... I grab them and make a partnership and we both make a few extra K a month on it...

But with friends you spend a few extra K and nothing comes from it except for your wife/girlfriend saying to you, "Either you fire him and never talk to him again or I am out because I can't handle this shit anymore!"

Great idea but treat him as an co-worker and your friendship will still be strong!

ez12 01-23-2007 03:22 AM

It can be hard, but with good rules and inderstanding it can be done!

E$_manager 01-23-2007 08:20 AM

It is a bad idea to employ a friend or a relative.
But if your riend is in need, then you need to help him.

Brad Gosse 01-23-2007 08:22 AM

The friends and family plan will not work in the long run. Hire someone who doesn't know you, they will respect your authority.

tranza 01-23-2007 08:40 AM

I currently employ 2 friends of mine. Coudln't be happier.

WiredGuy 01-23-2007 08:46 AM

Like many people said here, don't hire friends. Never. Never ever ever!

Its not bad helping a friend in need. go ahead just have a clear arrangement though! hehehe

bizarredollars 01-23-2007 09:38 AM

It's not a bad thing to do at all.. So long as your friends understand that when it comes to business, you are the boss.. That they MUST be on time, and MUST meet their quota. If you are the kind of person who lets your friends walk all over you, then it would be a really bad idea.
