I think any US based mafia is pretty much obsolete, or certainly much diminished and more low key.

These days, I would imagine most of the "gang" type online crime comes from Eastern Europe and Russia. It seems like it is the wild west over there.

I also hear alot of this is it true?

I have been looking at different properties and real estate recently. I came across an occupied apartment duplex and was looking through the different pics of the rooms etc. You could plainly tell there was a lot of drug activity just by the different things these tenants had in their home. I found this intersting, so I looked deeper into the pics. It was definately a crack house.

I stumbled on a pic of one bedroom where there was a REALLY nice computer and office setup. The room was filthy as all hell, and lots of drug paraphenilia and other signs of parties and plain laziness. However... it was plain to see the occupant of this room was into some kind of online business.

How neat.

I am also not talking about individual or small groups of criminals, I am talking about organized gang behavior. Yes I know the older mafia ties to the ones you listed as well as some earlier porn companies, I am speaking of the other sorts of gangs that have really taken a foot hold in this country among others.

organized crime generally deals in products and/or services that are mostly illegal, but wanted by society, and thus have large profit potential.

in the western world now "porn" is mostly "legal" and ubiquitous.

thus, the potential for large scale profit is diminished.

40 years ago organized crime did play around with "porn".

today "porn" is so mainstream and profits so low that it is not attractive to organized crime.

After pondering awhile about how a large portion of the porn industry is LA based I came to an interesting question in my own mind.

A lot of models are shuffled around by suitcase pimps or downright pimps as many of us know in and around LA and of course other places.

This business has a low entry bar, and of course anyone with any real money flow can make more with some basic knowledge.

This business has a great deal of B2B transactions, cash for design, cash for pictures, cash for traffic, and what not. This of course also is a very easy way one could clean money.

Now of course LA (other cities/countries as well) also have a large amount of organized gangs. Many of which are involved in other aspects besides dealing drugs and simple shit, from extortion to other business dealings.

So my question is, do you think or know that there is "gang" controlled activity/businesses in our industry?

do you mean in the online adult business? haven't heard yet...

as Pleasure Pays posted one of the most powerful Mafia families, Gambino family was behind the Crescent Publishing scam, hundreds of millions of dollars. i'm very sure there are some programs backed by Mafia money - somebody told me one, have no idea if it's true.
