Why don't more pay sites offer 7 day trials? I would think that...

it might actually end up creating more "forgotten" memberships that will rebill as opposed to a 2 or 3 day or limited trials which a user will cancel more quickly.

I know topbucks defaults to that (although I'm not sure if it's limited or not).. and FlashCash has had their full access 7 day trial for a long time now.

So why don't more have it?

If you've tried it and gone back to 3 days, what was your experience?

i would like to see you try that on my sites, LOL, you woul;d be kicked and banned within 30 minutes of being a member

tempest, on my sites I have tried the 3 day trial, the 7 day trial and the no trial options, and to be honest, I prefer people push my site with a no-trial option, we saw no significant drop in sign ups with no-trial

I would prefer to just do away with the trial all together

That's an interesting idea... Did you notice an increase in "forgotten" rebills when you did that? I'm assuming that after those 2 months it rebills at $24.xx every month?

I didn't realize you did fully nude and live cam shows.. Do you have FHGs etc.?

you are hoping for "forgotten" memberships? great business ethics there
How about offer great content instead, so surfers will gladly rebill to see more?

I've found that surfers are getting a bit more savvy and the great majority of the trials we sold were to surfers who got their business done and cancelled within 24 hours. I think that trials are a money losing venture, it lessens the value of the whole site. just my 2cents though.

I'd be more interested in seeing something like a $1 one hour trial. I just dont know if any of the processors would go for that...

Limit the trial to an hour, not because you're hoping they will forget to cancel, but because a 3 day trial gives the surfer enough time not to download your whole catalogue, but to get the few movies they decide they want to download. At one hour, they're less likely to just do their business and go (why go to the trouble of registering for one hour just to cancel, theres enough free stuff out there unfortunately) but it also leaves their interest level up, and makes them want more.

There are two reasons why trials just don't work as well as they used to.

1) Members areas suck. Seriously, most new adult sites are jokes. They buy 10-15 movies for a niche and try to upsell the members on everything. No updates or anything and no reason to stay a member. They can pretty much get all the content for free by pulling up all the free video galleries available.

2) Too many sites. There are 5000 solo girls, 50 sites on every niche, and so on. Why does a member need to stay beyond a few days after he's seen a good portion of the content? He can head on over to a new site with different content in the same niche and get his fill.

And lets be honest, most rebills are from guys forgetting to cancel. Unless you have a real nice niche, that updates very frequently, has good interaction with members, and a ridiculous amount of content available, the user has no reason to rebill. Those sites are few and far between as most programs want 50 sites to appease all affiliates, instead of focusing on one or two that they do extremely well with.

Why don't you stick to your programming and post botting to win $25 here and there... Actually.. why don't you spend some time making that gallery exporter tool more efficient...

If you're an affiliate of any PPS programs then you are making money from the same ethics you're scoffing at.

I would think you might as well just do the 30 minute FREE access instead. I've never compared the stats but my gut says that the free trials aren't converting as well as standard trial sites.

With 1 hour trials, I would also think that it might lead to the same person signing up time and again which I've noticed some programs frown upon. Not sure why they don't like that.

I think a user should be blocked from getting an addition trial within a certain time period... 3 months, 6 months, I dont know.

only time and lots of testing will tell. has anyone done any serious research on converion and retention of trials across various price points and trial lengths?

yes it rebills at the full amount, but the trial or as I call it, special offer, is only available by a couple of methods, I prefer if people join for the full amount, if not then I bug then with other offers.
the 2 month offer rebills monthly after the 2nd month is over.

I do no tknow how mnay are forgotten or the customer knows about it, my rebills are very good as are my return customers.

my site is fully nude so are all the models I shoot for it, I don't put anyone one my site who will not show it all. yes I have FHG

I hear ya, but I've only seen a couple recently that are like that... Most of the ones I'm promoting are at least attempting to have exclusive good content. Takes time to build up a good offering though.

A number of programs have gone to limited trials in order to get better conversions. But, I suspect what will happen is that the really shitty sites will be doing that more and more, hiding the fact that they have shit by offering the limited trials... so the surfers will be put off by that as well and even limited trials will begin to suck...

So what are the options? Trials are slowly being killed off... some sites can sell fine with full membership, but I suspect as surfers continue to be jaded, that will decrease. So why not offer them something less expensive but still with full access. The "sweet spot" for impulse type sales is in the price range of $9.99-$19.99. So why not give them a 7 day or even a 14 day option. Maybe charge slightly more a day then the full month option.

One also needs to consider the "mentality" of a porn surfer. Unless they're signing up to sites because they're a fan of a particular model etc., they're looking for their next "fix"... Just the right picture, audo, video to satisfy them in that moment. Unless you're a site that offeres a ton of content in all sorts of niches etc., it's very difficult to always have what the surfer is looking for.. And that's why they cancel and go to other sites.

a long time ago I used to do the 3 day trial, and yes, there was a problem with people wanting to keep joining with the trial then download the updates they wanted to see, thats when I got tired of the leaches and went to the 60 day trial, but one get one month free... they still get a good deal, but they are going to pay the full price for it.

People would be surprised how many of the long running memberships are due to forgotten joins.

Our $$$ went through the roof when we went to a 3 day trial. Big increase in dialy signups and because of our unique content we are able to retain a good percentage of them through to the monthly cycle....
