How long should batteries last in a wireless mouse?

I think I may have a defective mouse as rechargeables last a day with heavy use.
So to test the difference I buy a 4pk of Energizer Lithiums and only last a week.
Is this about what you get?

Ouch!
I really don't need wireless. It stays in my keyboard tray all the time.
I wish I had known before I bought it.

My only experience prior to this was a cheap one on a WIN machine that I use maybe once a week for a few min. I have never changed them in 2 yrs.

I had a logitech mediaplay cordless mouse. Duracell alkalines lasted a month. NM-H lasted two months.

I've had a logitech mx7XX series one too once. Duracells lasted about 2 weeks, rechargable NMH about a month.

From what i gather a month is avererage for the best batteries.

At the end of a year it gets expensive, if you really need wireless fine, but if it stays in one place why do it?
The rechargeles weren't cheap but can reuse hundreds of times. Just have to change them everyday. I'm tired of it.

The reason I started with Kensington was years ago they were the only ones that had a 5-button programmable for the Mac.
All the others that I've had were fine. Got tons of use, no complaints.
The wireless one was a mistake.

I just got a simple MS wireless keyboard and mouse set .. nothing big ..it was like $80 .... the first one the mouse wouldn't scroll right ... it was real choppy. I brought it back and the new one was fine .. then within a day it said low battery and the scroll was fucked again. I'm hoping it's just the batteries it came with but now i have a feeling i made a mistake.

I just hate all the wires

We run 6 computers, three are wireless HP, one lasts one week on new batteries the other two round 3 weeks.....all depends on the useage. The one that lasts one week is used 16 - 18 hrs per day...The other 3 are wired.

I have a Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 2.0 and it uses 2 AA batteries that I replace.. crap, can't remember, but I get at least 6 months per change(rechargeable Energizers), I'm sure it's longer than that though. I don't use this computer quite as heavy as I could, but I'm pretty happy with this setup.

The first-gen wireless mice (especially the MS mice) were notorious at how fast they ate through batteries, we?re talking about a week or two and they were completely drained. I have a newer MS wireless mouse (I don?t really like wireless mice period) that lasts around two months with fairly constant use.

Other than for a media center PC that?s hooked up directly to your big screen TV, I completely agree. I hate wireless mice.

I was using wireless mouse/keyboard back in the days and it was crap. I had lag on my mouse, couldn't do any kind of basic photoshop work - the small lag was very annoying.

Now I just bought this microsoft bluetooth mouse and keyboard and it works really well. I'm quite please with it, the lag is very very minimal and I can do my work in photoshop np. I had it for 2 weeks now and my battery indicator is over 90% and I use it daily for 10 hours-ish.

it's worth not having a cord tangling and snagging. Im back to wired now though cause the media play and the mx mouse are both discontinued and all alternatives suck.. they hurt to use.

I purchased about 60 Energizer AA 2500Mah on eBay, for all kinds of appliances (digicams, remotes, mice, keyboards, etc). They are about as powerful as AA batteries get. My guess is you are using 1800Mah or less.

For that reason alone, it's pointless to ask people how long their batteries last unless you ask them what make, how many Mah and what mouse they have.

Do yourself a favour and pick up some stronger batteries, you will experience that they will last a lot longer.

This is apparently a rating for rechargeables as I don't see any such thing on the regular ones.
I see 2000Mah which is obviously not as good as the 2500. What would it give me an extra day or 2?

It would seem to me that the Energizer Lithiums have to be more powerful and last longer as there was only 1 pack of 4 on the shelf that were more pricewise and supposedly better than the Lithiums. I think I proved that as they only lasted a week which is not good enough to suit me.
