I don't see why they even bother with these phony press conferences.

They should simply say, the president/prime minister will speak at such and such time and provide a video feed for those stations that want to cover it.

Under Martin, reporters had to submit the questions in writing before the press conference. Martins press secretary would then select which ones could be asked.

Best of course , was Pierre Elliot Trudeau's handling of the press. Remember.....

I was listening to a radio interview with a veteran CBC reporter a while ago. He said that whenever a journalist arrived in Ottawa during the Mulroney years, they would get a call at their hotel room asking what the purpose of their visit was. The people on the Hill kept *that close* an eye on things.
