Do you filter or do you buy bottled water?

I'm having a high-end filtering system installed today. Actually in about an hour, and I can't wait. For nearly 15 years now I have been using the "Brita" water filtering jug thingy.

My sister and her family, on the other hand, have had their water delivered in 5 gallon bottles for years now, and they use one of those water cooler things in their kitchen. I've never really gotten interested in doing it that way.

My parents have had this type of filtration system under their kitchen sink for many years now, and it appears to be the best way to go.

How do you manage your water at your house? Filter system?

Delivered bottles?

Straight from the tap???

I just cant bring myself to purchase water! I let the tap run for a solid couple of minutes then fill a big safe pitcher, lol.

I'd prefer a whole house filter if it was proven and cost effective, but it's not in the cards until I purchase a home.

I must admit I've found myself wondering how we can all be sure that the bottled water is really any better than your average tap water.

It might say "mountain spring filtered"... but how do you know? :D

You're right of course. Here in Winnipeg we get our water from Shoal Lake and have been getting it from there for many many decades now. It's a high quality source of water and is today probably as good as it ever was.

But the problem with most people's tap water is with lead water pipes. While newer communities all likely have copper pipes, the older areas still use lead piping. That means people are encouraged to run their tap for a bit before using any water for drinking or cooking.

With this new system installed I no longer have to worry about it, or about having to buy bottled water, period.

The guy's all done, making my first pot of coffee from the new water. :D

you all need to watch Penn and Teller BULLSHIT!

they really hit the bottled water issue hard and reveal where a lot of the bottled water comes from

We use the Brita jug thing, but I am not too worried about it, our tap water is really good in our area....tap water is actually better than bottled water in a lot of places

on a side note, did you all know that GE developed a way to convert ocean salt water into fresh water? they are currently processing 1.8 billion gallons a day

i buy bottled water for various reasons.

1) easy to grab on the go
2) better to offer to company (instead of a cup of water lol)
3) going on walks/hikes (freeze it the night before)

I only drink fiji water, since the past 7 months, I have eliminated soft drinks from my daily intake and completly replaced them with fiji water. you dont need sugar drinks when you have fiji water.

It caused me to lose about 50 pounds in a few months only, I currently order it weekly by the case, I drink 4 litres a day of this awesome water, if anyone else out there drinks fiji, then you know that no other water in the world compares to artesian water. I did not change my eating habits, simply eliminated soft drinks and replaced them with fiji water.

When you take a sip of this water, it disolves on your tounge, unlike anything else you will ever taste in your lifetime, basically it is water that has been filtering for centuries through volcanic matter. It is rather incredible, just try a bottle and see for yourself, you will understand what the whole fuss is about, this is not just water... it is unbelievable until you actually try it.

It is not cheap, about $2.50 per liter when you buy it by the case of 12 bottles of 1 liter. I drink 2 + cases a week currently, when I started drinking it, I maybe went through 1 case in a week at most. It really grows on you and is has allowed me to trash the garbage soft drinks I used to drink all the time, no other water would be a viable replacement for softdrinks, but fiji water is just the most amazing drink I have ever discovered.

I always keep a full stock of bottles here for guests as well, I love to see the look on people's faces when they try it, the looks of amazment at how good this stuff is.

Anyone else here drink fiji water, what has it done for you and how do you like it?

I don't drink much water, but I like drinking things that are filtered.
Charcoal-mellowing refers to a process used to make Tennessee whiskey, such as Jack Daniel's. The process involves slowly dripping the newly made whiskey through giant containers hard-packed with 10 feet of sugar maple charcoal. The process takes ten days, and during this time the whiskey absorbs the essence of the charcoal, refining the spirit and giving it a unique flavor and aroma.

Aquafina is a non-carbonated bottled water produced by PepsiCo. It was first distributed in Wichita, Kansas in 1994, was distributed across the United States by 1997, and as of 2003, had become the United States' top-selling bottled water brand in measured retail channels. The water is mainly driven from municipal tap water that goes through an extensive purification process that includes charcoal filtration, reverse osmosis and ozonation. Aquafina is sold in 12-ounce, 500-mL (16.9-ounce), 20-ounce, 24-ounce, 1-liter, and 1.5-liter bottles.

Anyone else here drink fiji water, what has it done for you and how do you like it?

.... do you work for Fiji water?

My parents have had this type of filtration system under their kitchen sink for many years now, and it appears to be the best way to go.

How do you manage your water at your house? Filter system?

Delivered bottles?

Straight from the tap???

5 Gallon bottle from Menehune $7.50
See what happened to the water supply in Hawaii over the last few weeks and you wouldn't drink the tap water.

filter only. Tried to drink tap water the other day from within city limits I spit it out, I could taste all the chemicals used in the purification process, now I remember why I used to hate the stuff when I was a kid. I had a Reverse osmosis system put in, but it is for the fish that I breed, but that water tastes pretty good also and the fish seem to like it.
