Oh I thought it through,

Trust me because I'm half North American Indian I have done my fair share of thinking about the subject of racism. No I don't have "issues."

But when someone knows I'm half Indian and they see me buying a case of beer I get the dirty looks or comments about being a drunk. (I've never been drunk a day in my life)

or I go into a bank at the near the end of the month and the teller assumes I'm there to cash a welfare cheque. (I've never been on it in my entire life)

Or I get people that stop me on the street and ask me if I know where they can score some dope. (I never what the stuff looked like before I lived in L.A.)

Or if I visit the home of someone I just met, they put away their valuables so I don't see what they own. (I've never stolen a damn thing in my life... Not even the hotel towels.)

And part of the reason I do adult is because I got tired of NOT getting the job I was qualified for. You see I have a degree in psychology but everyone knows that Indian's drop out of school at 8 years of age and can't read.

Growing up in North America I looked very "Indian" and wasn't until I exploited my red hair, got out of the sun and started to use skin whiteners that it backed off. Taking my husband's last name helped a lot too.

So yea I lived with the sterio type of being considered an "Alcoholic," "Lazy" and "Un-educated" wahoo, that must steal in order to buy food for my 9 children from 9 fathers different fathers. Because I spent my welfare cheque on beer and I'm too busy sniffing glue instead of taking the job cleaning the McDonald's toilets.

The newspaper in Denmark had EVERY RIGHT to print the cartoons. I support that completely!!!

However, France, Italy, Germany, etc....
They weren't doing it for "Freedom of Expression/Speech."
They were just antagonizing. They went looking for a fight and culturaly the muslims are a group of people that are only too happy to stand their ground.

The problem most people on here have is that UNLIKE the Indians....

There is a hell of a lot of them... And they will push the issue further than most any european will.

Y'know I'm probably the only professional editorial news cartoonist on this board. Spent years doing very controversial editorial cartoons. Yes, you will get some shit from people but only from people who take things too seriously. It's a very powerful medium as you can see from this story. It's not a power to be taken too lightly.

What's happened here is that with the proliferation of the internet and printers the cartoons are getting broad exposure. We've been poking fun at everybody including Muslims for decades and only recently is this much shit stirred up.

It proves what I've been saying all along, the Islamic world cannot co-exist with everybody else. It cannot by default. Not until common sense and tradition come together to fight the gangster bullshit that has fouled up Islam over the past 100 years. The Islamic people are fighting the exact same enemies everyone else is fighting but they don't have the advantage of technology to combat it as the arms dealers are forking over weapons to the hostiles faster than the governments can implement the social controls. It's a nightmare waiting to happen.

It was NOT a show of support by the other papers. If it was an attempt at it, than the people that made the decision to re-print are complete idiots. And allow me to explain why.

A prudent person would stop and look at the current situation. They would see that this has cause problems. Not only for the paper but for the entire country. The people employed by the firms that sell or ship consumer products to arab nations are the ones that are ultimately going to be hurt.

And if the fucking wing-nut extremists get it in their stupid heads to force the issue... Then you're responsible for getting people killed. "Congratuations on your support for freedom of speech! I'm sure some mother or widow will be real comforted that you printed those cartoons."

If they wanted to show support there was a much better way to do it!

Do a story on Freedom of speech and the long struggle as a society we have had to obtain it. Talk about what it means to be able to say what we want and why we should. In the end, you might win some of those crazy muslims over to your side. <<Score 1 point>>

Invite members of the press to sit down with representives of the muslim community and discuss the issues involved. Do a week long indepth story about all the events, dialogs, discussions, etc.

before I even went to a judgemental board like this I discussed this with a muslim.... He is 23 years old he came to denmark in 93. he speaks perfectly danish, he receives better grades than me studying psychology.
His mind is open and he laughed at these drawings but 4 months ago when they were posted he knew without a doubt that this would go nuts. Even though he is lauging at them he would never say to his parents he understands why these drawings are made... He would not be able to go home again if he did.
