In six days I will have to go through the dreadful process of writing a check to Uncle Sam for his share of what I made last year. No one likes paying taxes, but hell, there's patriotic fervor in the air, and we're all proud to be Americans and we have all sorts of faith in our chosen leaders. (or so says the CNN/Gallup poll)

Then today I got to read THIS

$550,000 for a Dr Suess memorial in Massachusetts.
$50,000 in California for a program to remove people's tatoos.
$800,000 to import red fire ants into Mississippi

and the hits just keep on coming......

How about the people in California keep their tatoos and I'll keep my check? Sounds fair to me.

Wow Redshoe, what a dillemma. I can see now that since tatoos are no longer "cool" where you live, that the state should be obliged to pay for its removal.

Is the Dr Suess memorial negotiable? Or do you have a personal reason that we can't do away with that so I can keep my check?

Dems might not be any better but they don't promise cuts and then hit you broadside the next year. And they are at least up front about what they do with the taxes. (Some real frivilous things to be sure BUT they also take care of the disabled and elderly alot better etc).

And before anyone flames about the disabled and elderly... are YOU going to take care of your parents? Didn't think so...

One of the latest Repub ploys, one year add $$ to the medicaid system to help with the huge pricing on meds, this year? Let them co-pay (BUT never raised the checks so they CAN co-pay)

What the President does in private is NOT my concern, but when repubs want to give 1.5 mil to a pig rendering plant in Missouri or where ever it was

or the 550k to a small town near here to tear out NEW sidewalks and put brick walks back... (btw, they tore OUT brick to put in concrete)

Then this last one they just pulled off... unsure of the $ amount right now but the repubs are paying for a riverwalk! Along a creek 20 ft wide that stagnates in the summer and floods the whole walk are under 20' of water.

Anddddd its 8 miles downstream from a small water dam that they have to release alot during the spring and fall....
