Indeed. Fortunately having a couple of computers with a lot of the content already ready some of it isn't that bad. I would estimate another day or two to be back to close to where we were, and of course that is an optomistic guesstimate. But thanks man, you have been a big help always! |
I can't say that I have been in the exact same position, since I don't run an affiliate program, and I have back-ups of my back-ups (sometimes a little paranoia is a good thing), however, I know I freak when I can't access 3rd party data (stats, etc), even for a few hours or so.
You seem to be maintaining quite good under the circumstances, while you work to rectify the situation, as well as keeping everyone informed about what is going on (it's always best to be out front on stuff like that). If you ever get tired of running your web site, FEMA could use you - and you would probably do a better job. :thumbsup ADG Webmaster |

We really thought we had all the backups covered, but the reality of the situation is only the content was locally backed up, the rest of it was in someone else's hands that we kind of relied on and had some misconsumptions about. Some things you find out the hard way I guess. The site will be back bigger and better than ever ASAP, and we hope that our loyal affiliates and friends will be there to embrace it/us once again, as they have so many times before. Thanks again for all your kind words, it means more than you know right now. :) Oh, and FEMA might be a little out of my league atm...lol |

1st look for new host 2nd negotiate with new host on a round robin dns or load balanced solution 3rd get some soft of remote back up or back up to local for MQsql automated and watch it.. Database info is often as in this case the worst thing you can loose.. I have been there myself I feel for you . |

Bail dude. If you cant get a satisfactory comprehensive answer within 5 minutes, pack the fuck up!
Im sure you guys are doing pretty well, but what if you were losing oh, a mil a day? You think you'd put up with even a $20k ten minute downtime or unsatisfactory conflict? Just my 2cents. Don't worry about feeding someone else's kids or what people will say blah blah blah. Cuz they obviously ain't worried about your plate. |
You guys need to get a new host quick. Isprime is always top notch

newbreed i mailed you on this please reply...or hit me on icq 20458616
guys, as always there are two sides to every story in this case three...perhaps speak to Arika? |
Quote:
This is 100% untrue...you spoke with tech you had a drive failure and we restored it for you even though you are not on the new paid backup systems...i hate to drag this to the boards but then we spoke to Arika and she has a totally different point of view as to what happened...this is not hosting related at this point evidently... |
you must be talking about webair. Yeah they used to offer free backups but I actually saw that email that they sent out. they gave you like a month to let them know whether or not you wanted paid backups. Of course I IMMEDIATELY let them know that I wanted my shit backed up.
Even if they didn't send that email out, you can't assume SHIT when it comes to a server...Back when backups were free, I was sure to send them written notice that if I am ever late on payment and they can't seem to contact me, to assume that I'm either in the hospital or somehow FUBAR so they were not to delete my data and I would make it right. |

$600 to $1000 is cheap man. I had to pay $1800 to get my laptop hard drive data recovered. Besides, $1000 is a small investment to make sure your affiliates keep their rebills. |
Sorry Bill. Keep your head up, ignore the haters (doesn't seems to be any yet) and it'll work out for the best. Anything I can do, let me know.
|
really feel for you man - had a HD die on me recently and although it was no where near as bad as yours it is/was a fucking nightmare. Losing data, passes etc etc etc
Hope you get it all back up without anymore problems. |
Just spoke to Mike at Webair, he is sending the drive out now for recovery at their expense, thank you Mike for the phone call and all of your help!
