So you are telling me that in order for them to come in and send troops in to get control of things and to stabalize the situation, they need to get HER out of the way to do this? Maybe I am missing something, but I didn't think she had the authority to call in the guards, so to speak......... she can request them, which she DID.... but past that, what blame does she hold in this? I guess I am just stupid because I just don't get that.

People are killing, raping and stealing and shit, but this is her doing? Who does it fall on to get troops in there? I guess once you find that out, then there is where your fingers should be pointing...... I DO realize she is accountable for things, but she is one person, she can't do all that by herself, I don't care who she is, she isn't god! Right?

Irregardless of any of this though. those people need help and someone needs to get off their asses in ALL of those states and get it done. All I am saying is take care of things and then blame later, they are spending way too much precious energy blaming everyone and their brother. I guess if you want to get technical about this, you can JUST about blame anyone, but what's that going to fix here and now?

I am NOT a political person, so I could care less about politics, but any idiot can see those people need help and could probably care two shits about poilitics right now. And YES I am aware everything is about politics, doesn't mean I have to like it. Right?

Exactly!!! The minute I get paid, I have already alloted some of my pay to this cause. I don't donate much and I mean it, if I had the means, I would put a family or so up, I just don't have the means for that, but I am donating when I get paid. But this has been a plan since it happened. But maybe this will do it for others as well.... and if this is the case, then this was a very good thread. :)

plain and simple failure of the local leadership. The mayor and governor knew the city was succeptable to flooding. Where are all the boats the police should have to maintain order? I mean come on...These people couldn't even hold out for a couple of days until the feds got involved. That's pathetic.

Most of those points are not what this is about

There are 100 refugee families staying at hotels in my community. My wife & kids went out this morning with $500 in Walmart gift cards to see if anybody needed help. It turns out that the local churches have been taking care of EVERYBODY, they are bringing them 3 meals a day and supplying them with everything they needed. Our community sent 3 semi-trailers full of supplies down south today.

I imagine there are hundreds, if not thousands, of other communities responding the same way. :thumbsup

If you really want to help, give blood as soon as you can and try to recruit others to give blood.

That is awesome and how it should be.... people helping people. That is great that your community, as well as others, are stepping up.

As for blood, I can't give blood myself, I have this little heart thing called a mitral valve prolapse and they won't let me give blood.. but I do agree, that's a good idea and I would be willing to bet they are having blood drives around here, they always do when this sort of thing happens.

My kids schools are all making care packages for them, they sent the forms home with them yesterday, which makes my kids feel good and like they are doing something to help.

detoxed, that's fine..... and I respect what you are saying, but I still don't think blaming is doing anything at this point in the game. Hell, I ain't even gonna point the finger at Bush or anyone else... just get them helped, that's all MY point is, anyone else can have all the points they wanna have, MY point is just get them help and don't waste precious energy doing anything else right now.
