True, the liver can regenerate itself quickly.
But you still have only one.
So OP's story is not believeable for two reasons.
1- People have only one liver. Now imagine the malpractice lawsuit in not having that one explained by the doctor prior to a surgery.
2- He's a fudgepacker and has no girlfriend
