JJJ, what $$$/hit ratio do you get off pornno.com? do you only run tgp sites? if so, what's the $$$/hit ratio you get off all of them?

magnatique, i'm just talkinga bout in general. it appears that a free site normally gets $1 for every 200 to 250 visitors. ED, with all his exaltedness, apparantly achieves $1 for every 100 visitors somehow. i'm guessing that tgps get $1 for every 1,000 vistors. whether one niche gets a 1:1500 and another niche gets a 1:1000 doesn't really matter to me. i just want a ballpark figure. you think 1:1000 is close? (that's $1 for every 1,000 visitors i mean).

as usual, i'll try to make an education guess... let's say some kick-ass tgp gets 1,000,000 hits/day and it pulls in an amazing $500/day. i've heard of a few of you top dogs pulling in $500/day... is this off of just one site or is this off a network of unknown sites?!? i think my guess is fairly accurate, so i'll stick with it until someone shows me otherwise... 1,000,000 / 500 = 2,000 = $1 / every 2,000 visitors. i quickly guessed it was 1:1000 or 1:1500 before, so i think that it is around this.

HQ... better check copyright laws. lol Britney or whomever can sue you, the sponsor and any one in between. You are all equally quilty and max penalty in fines is 250,000 bucks PER picture. They can name you all as defendents in the same case in the court of their choice and YOU have to foot the bill to get there as well as pay their attorney fees in most cases.
If YOU don't have a license for ANY public figure that you use on your site, you are up the proverbial creek. And if a sponsor tells you they have one, demand a copy of it and better follow up and make sure its legit. Just ask the Enquirer paper about screwing with celebs! PO one and they will all come after you. I don't remember the star, but her mother scours the net looking for celeb pics and she will find you sooner or later. Stick with porn celebs or you could be the one stuck. Don't think the federal prosecuters use ky or vaseline either. Cmon, use some common sense here. How many celebs do you think would sign license over for ANY of their pics to show on porn sites? (Other than porn stars) Especially Britney and alot of the rest of the new ones. That would majorly scew their careers and for what? A few thousand bucks versus millions they'd lose????? As the hubby says, just WHAT the h*ll are you thinking?? Well, sorry to break the news to you but 99% of celebs don't own the copyright to any of their images. You're mixing apples and oranges. Tabloids are not sued for violating copyrights - they're sued for a number of other things including defamation of character, invasion of privacy, etc.

gemini, the magazines hold all copyrights for the pictures, unless they left it to the photographer... the model rarely have the copyrights..
and I went to see a few lawyers on this... they said it's like crossing the road... theoretically you can die beeing hit by a truck... but if you are careful enough, it'll never happen! |

alright guys and girls, so what's the bottom line? should i use a celeb sponsor or not? if i do, i was only going to use the sponsor's banner (99% certain to have a britney pic on there).

Although I agree that some things shouldn't be regulated, like the internet is in some countries, and while i agree that you can download warez off of mirc (not agreeing that it is right), it doesn't mean you aren't going to get your ass sued off for displaying on webpages that gets in the 10k's / day for traffic... unfortunately.

They can keep the mainstream internet the way it is as long as they don't fuck around with people who know how to get free shit. There's already some social darwinism going on with all the newbies on the mainstream net and people with enough brains to find free information. I'd like it to stay that way.
The more the mainstream net is regulated the more money webmasters will make. I just don't like that Metallica sue the world bullshit. I don't think any of those shitheads in Metallica could find the power switch on a computer. And there's always gonna be idiots just as stupid as them who'd rather just buy the cd than learn how to use a computer. First there was cassete tapes then vcrs and now computers. Every time there's a new medium to record copyrighted material the lawyers come out. And after all the bullshit dies down those fuckers who sent out their lawyers are making even more money than before. |
