Yes, that "rule" would still apply if Lensman was personally participating or visiting this forum as often as he did in the past. He got easily annoyed by the crap and closed many bullshit threads.... in fact he'd close many of your threads too. People were saying that all what matters are banner impressions, but if Lensman was in bad mood, he easily closed stupid threads.

But since he posts and visits this board far less nowadays, he doesn't do it anymore. And all other mods/employees have a relaxed attitude and very rarely close threads because they are stupid. If threads are closed, it is because of personal information being posted, sth illegal, or false accusations.

The idea that everything that matters are banner impressions and not the quality of the posts, was probably never formulated directly, but nowadays it's somehow implied. I also think that the mods or owners of this board don't really care THAT MUCH about certain things.... F.e. TexasDreams ocassionally moves two or three "domain sale" threads from the main forum to the "buy and sell" forum, or Lensman did the same once or twice too, but .... it doesn't change the fact that 95&#37; of such threads aren't moved. TexasDreams probably has too much other tasks, so in theory, it could be just a normal, respected GFY'er with privileges to do such things, but well... it doesn't happen...

Truth is that GFY is probably such a great tool (and money making machine) for the owners but also for most of posters, that such little things, even if iritating, are overlooked, or noone cares enough about them.

The only way people get kicked out is if they are total hosebags that annoy everyone. Otherwise, "views" are "views", and it helps keep the banner prices up.

see the problem with that is, anybody can claim a site as theirs and hope that nobody here who sees it is the real owner... now take it a step further and have to create a page on your site that maybe, a GFY bot crawls and checks for a certian keyword that you have to put on it, say you have to create a page called gfy.html with the words "hey, fuckface, its me [your nick here] i r a webmazterz lolz, see sig!" and if the bot finds that, it automaticly grabs the nick of the poster, and upgrades it to "Webmaster" and then allows them to post on the board.

When the best that the "names" on this board can come up with is threads like this (and 2 years later haven't got any more imaginative), it wouldn't make a whole lot of difference if 90% of the visitors weren't webmasters.
