What gives you reason to think that they were innocent civilians...and it is BS that our troops did not receive fire on that day.

My Lai was located in a designated "free fire zone"...a free fire zone was designated as such because it was an enemy stronghold...where "civilians" were the enemy or supported and supplied the enemy...and this included very young children as many dead American soldiers serving in Vietnam learned the hard way.

On that day four villages were to be assaulted...and as is SOP they were prepped by Air...by Artillery...and by Mortar bombardment before ground troops entered the AO. Basically every living thing was to be destroyed...including livestock...crops destroyed...and hooches burned (though this was not an official order).

Before you start spouting off about the Geneva Convention...just understand that combatants on both sides in every conflict violate the Convention. The actual combatants within these four villages were violating the Convention. Shit happens...in the real world.

When you've been owned just pull out the flag.

Hope your little security blanket keeps you snug and warm.

Because they were unarmed.

Court testimony shows no evidence of even one shot fired at U.S. troops inside the village. Also, no Viet Cong were captured that day.

Listen to what the head murderer William Calley said in court: ?Nobody in the military system ever described them as anything other than Communism. They didn?t give it a race, they didn?t give it a sex, they didn?t give it an age. They never let me believe it was just a philosophy in a man?s mind. That was my enemy out there. And when it became between me and that enemy, I had to value the lives of my troops, and I feel that was the only crime I have committed.?

Now that is a severely brainwashed indvidual.

That severely brainwashed individual had lost a number of his people (he was a Platoon Leader) in ambush without actually ever seeing the enemy. The Batallion his Platoon belonged to had lost a number of people in and around the four villages one of which was My Lai. That is why it was decided to take the villages out. It was not the first nor the last village that was taken out in a "free fire" zone in Vietnam. Senator Kerry engaged in "free fire zones" in Vietnam. PF engaged in "free fire" zones in Vietnam. Our people were being killed in ambush laid by these "innocent civilians". Unfortunately war is about kill...or be killed...be it civilians or uniformed soldiers.

It is civilians killing Americans in Iraq and they are known and being supported by other civilians...and we need to take the gloves off over there.

and americans are whinging about 4 deaths? fuck that. its deserved. if you are over there you should expect the worst.

You DO know what those 4 civilians were doing don't you?

Escorting a load of food for those people.

It was not deserved - however, I think spending a day playing a hood ornament on a tank for you might be.

Maybe you'd wise up and not be such a jerk.

Owned, lol? I didn't even support the war, but you are acting like a dickhead. They were civilans, and in any circumstance dancing around the chared remains and dragging them through the streets before dismembering them is savage behaviour (something I am sure you would condemn if the Americans just killed Osama even).

I agree that what America is doing is imperialistic (forcing its culture on others) but at the same time the culture and numerical invasion of America (by Mexicans for example) is really no different. It is a slower process, and it involves no guns, yet it still results in the death of a culture/way of life and ultimately an ethnicity.
