Merchant accounts and real time gateways

I'm shopping around for merchant accounts at the moment and am looking at the various web gateways offered.

Does anyone recomend any particular web gateway? This merchant account will be used for low risk transactions.

I need something that supports both virtual terminal and API (for seamless integration into our software). Also we have to be allowed to do our own customer service.

Authorize.net seems to be a big gateway provider that merchant account providers hawk but if I recall correctly I've heard some not so good things about authorize.net

Go to Netbilling. They will set you up with everything you need and their system smokes Authorize.net all day long. Alot of merchant account providers resell authorize.net and make a killing on the sale and residuals. That is why many recommend them.

For low-risk, I would say CardService (the cheapest merchant account that I know of) and LinkPoint which they provide for free (or it might be $20 a month).

I had to implement my own 2-tier membership based payment system and the only gateway that was flexible enough to be integrated into my site was VeriSign. Email me and I"ll tell you more.

Do you guys accept lower volume? In the begining we will only be handling $30k a month worth of transactions. All low risk and non adult.

I already have a contact for a merchant account, would I be able to just bring that merchant account over to your gateway?

Apples and oranges. With authorize.net you're simply using them as a gateway. If you're using a non adult merchant account for adult transactions, I'd be more worried about losing the merchant account over getting booted by authorize.net if they in fact do that.

www.plugandpay.com good gateway.. also compatible with offshore merchant accounts. straight-forward API and documentation.

www.netbilling.com is nice as well.

stay away from verisign's payflow pro.

not sure what you're selling but www.foomp.com is a top tier merchant bank.

offshore I'd suggest SKNB in St. Kitt's. try to get in direct touch with the bank and not go through a reseller like www.terrapayments.com (sucks)

herbal logic,

Why do you say that about VeriSign's PayFlow Pro? When I researched the best gateway - I couldn't find any other API that would be more flexible. I mean there are some retarded things that you have to work around, but in general it worked great for me in the past 2 years. Is there something I should be aware of in the future?

well one example off the top of my head is they do not support 60 day recurring. just monthly and quarterly. also, their online gateway is total crap so when a need arrises to access it which is sometimes very often often it becomes a headache to find transactions. Can't search by customer name etc. just transaction id's or recurring profile id's which requires you to bounce back and fort from your own software. We were selling product on a recurring basis through them and recurring transactions can't be set up to pre-auth which is technically against cc rules. I can go on

oh..and their tech support is terrible. 9am to 5pm unless you pay additional charges for a premium acount.

just not very user friendly

Hi,

We do accept any volume and you can use your current merchant account with our system as long as it is compatible with our backend. Which processor type is it? Also, we are not a reseller of anyone "Russianagent". We have our own dedicated gateway, our own call center, and our own shopping cart system.
We privide 24/7/365 support for our merchant AND their customers. Who else does that?

Thank you, Mitch Farber

I looked at your website, do you have a demo of your gateway and virtual terminal? The website made no mention of it, all I saw is what looked like a paypal type system.

I work for Humboldt Merchant Services and set-up merchant account for both adult and non-adult business. We support a variet of gateways and would highly recommend either Netbilling or USA ePay. If this is for an adult business, then NetBilling is the way to go. If you are non adult, their Netbilling or USA ePay would be great.

We also support AuthNet, VeriSign, eProcessing Network, Jettis, and more.

If you are interested in a merchant account for your business feel free to contact me.
