Plasma or LCD?

Anyone do any research on these? I need a small, thin TV, and I'm trying to decide which to get.

I heard LCD was better but the price seems retarded to me.

The biggest size I've seen available in local stores is a 37 inch for $8500 Canadian. No way I'm paying $8500 for a 37 inch TV.

You can get a 42 inch plasma (made by Daewoo) for $2500 Canadian. I'm assuming these are junk. Anyone bought one of the cheap plasmas before?

Got any recommendations?

Ya, sounds too good to be true. I'm picturing them being built by starving kids in a sweat shop somewhere.

I like LCD best but prices are too high and sizes too small. Give it a year or two and i am sure prices will be better.

I don't remember the sizes, I think it was 35", anyway... it's been said that below a certain size LCD is the best, and above a certain size plasma is the best.

plasma screens have high burn in rates (for instance a channel logo in the top can easily burn in in less then a day)

LCD , if you have the $$, is the way to go

Neither... Do DLP

Its must better then both.. no hassles of the plazma and no pixelation of the lcd. Samsung has an awesome 61" for about 4k and a 51" for about 3k. Great tvs... I would never buy an lcd or plazma after seeing this. Great price and beter, longer lasting TV

Check it out!

They have some good reviews on this site also. Take a look!

A lot depends on how you plan on watching the set, on the floor, on the wall, straight on, in a corner, etc. Plasmas are awesome from all angles. LCD's are best viewed at eye-level straight on, otherwise they appear very dark and shadowy. Go to a store and look at them all, and you'll see a huge difference, that sold me on the plasma. The bigger the set, the worse it looks. I'm not sure what you consider "small" but I haven't really seen many plasmas under 42". I just got a 50" Pioneer plasma, and 2 23" Sony lcd's, and both are awesome for their intended use, the main 50 in the middle, and the smaller lcd's for extra sports watching.

Good luck..
