By the time you get a slot open for basic training, and then go thru AIT (your job training) the shit will be over with.

Not if it's a real war.

Yes...on the 2nd day of the ground war...during Desert Storm I was ran over...by a HumVee...ended my career and I have suffered with mind numbing pain 24/7 since '91 and will live out the rest of my life that way...but I do not regret having served...and if I were capable I would be in Iraq now.

I posted pics of the place that I recently inherited from one of my ex-mother-in-laws. She had more than 150 stuffed animals. I gave most of them to my bank...as they had a give away for poor children during Xmas. The rest I sent to the children of friends of mine that are still on active duty. The carpet is like new and suits me just fine...which is all that counts. I pay more in taxes than I receive from my VA disability and Social Security disability combined...thank you very much.

It is because of my service...and the service of those that preceeded me...and those that have served after me...that drugged out punks...like yourself...can spew the idiocy that comes from your burned out brain. You are now DISMISSED.

Welcome to the "no one wants us to defend our country" club.

It may be your opinion that there was not a valid reason for invading Iraq...but in my opinion there are multiple valid reasons...and I am only surprised that the US took so many years to invade. If it would have been my decision to make Saddam would have been taken down within the first year after the '91 cease fire.

been there, done that, got the souvineer t-shirt & health problems.

doubt I would do it again if I had to do it over. (which I don't) Hindsight is always 20/20

but then I didn't join for college points or to escape my parents or any of the typical reasons. I joined because I was bored. So, it was a different experience, and yeah, Iraq sucked, but if I had it to do over, I'd have found something else to break the boredom.

Pornwolf 01-28-2004 03:22 AM

Dayumn! That's serious boredom. How old were you when you joined?

I was in the Marine Corps and damn proud to say so! :thumbsup

Herb Kornfield 01-28-2004 09:02 AM

If there was a credible threat to the US as there was in the WW2 era of Nazi-ism taking over the world. That was a time when the world went nuts and everyone was looking to conquer it all.

America came in and laid the smack down also, in the process snatched the game up.

Today, America is going into countries being the agressor and not as the protector as they claim. The Govt loves to be at War with something or somebody somewhere.

If no one showed up for war, the world would be a better place.

Head 01-28-2004 09:05 AM

I tried to get in the Navy cause I'm into sailing and Scuba Diving. I would prolly still be in it. Seeing The the world. Boats. Water. I would have served in the Golf war for sure.

CamChicks 01-28-2004 09:22 AM

I think it would be nice if noone from any country ever enlisted in any army. The day facists cannot get anyone else to wield a weapon for them will be the end of war. But humans are still too tribal and will almost certainly have to be altered genetically to be made otherwise.

woj 01-28-2004 09:23 AM

100 in the military

Hmm... everyone that I know that's been in the military has done everything I've mentioned. Maybe I just know the right people?

Skincitymodels 01-28-2004 09:53 AM

I was in the military (usaf) from 85 to 90 got out just as people began deploying out to Saudi. I lost several freinds when the tanker bomb was detonated right out side the barracks.... I was glad I wasnt in the dorms with my friends. But a part of me wanted to be out there helping out anyway I could. Would I go back in? Yes but not as an inlisted puke like I was.....I would do the college first. but just my 2 cents.. I have respect for an 18 year old kids that is willing to put his ass on the line. I look back to see my self as that 18 year old kid working on and keeping a 50 million dollar aircraft in the air and doing a job that most people would not be able to handle........ My hats off to the guys in the military. and I salute you for putting your ass on the line for people that take thier libertys for granted in countrys that they live in.. All of you that can open your mouth and say what you want in ay bulliten board need to thank a vet for keeping your freedom alive intead of working for Tojo or giving a big Heil Hitler to the Nazi flag with a gun to your back. nuff said

Peaches 01-28-2004 10:02 AM

My son will be shipping out within the next 3 months for the USAF.

IME, talking to people in the US military, they're ALL glad they served. It's a volunteer military in the US - if you don't want to do it, you don't. Period. :)

I think there's a benefit to maintaining a certain immaturity. Being an asshole is one thing, but having a certain childish happiness is something everyone should hold on to. The military brainwashes people, and that's not cool. Plus, I have no interest in dying for the President's whims.

Chris E 01-28-2004 10:26 AM

Definitely not.

Manowar 01-28-2004 10:27 AM

i wouldn't join the military at all

I make more money at this and i do -1000 times the work plus i dont get shot at

SixNine 01-28-2004 12:01 PM

Hmmm...
I was part of the 10%.

Cavalry Scout
11th Armored Cavalry Regiment
Kuwait City
Combat Veteran

I joined the Army when I was 18 when my parents told me to get out of their house and stop laying around.

I did 13 years the hard way, riding, training, leading and fighting in all different types of combat vehicles.

I started out a dumb private (1989) that couldn't stay out of trouble. and ended up a bad ass section sergeant (2003) with 8 swinging dicks that worked for me and would drive, freeze, and fight for me at the drop of a hat.

18 months ago my enlistment ended and I didn't re-up.
I earn more in 6 months than my whole platoon does in a year. If we got deployed I'd be so truly fucked it's indescribable plus... I'm 33 with kids and employees and a business to run. I like taking a shit and showering by myself these days, and I've ate one too many .50 sandwiches. (when you hit a ditch and you're in the commander's hatch and take the .50 caliber machine gun in the grill)

Luck has it my boys got activated and are leaving for the Sunni Triangle mid feb. I swing by and see them every once and a while. I'm throwing a party for them feb. 8th and we're going to get fucked up, arrested, laid and all that good mobilization I don't give a fuck type shiyite.

They all think I'm the shit for slingin' smut and maiking bank. I think they're the shit for having the opportunity to go split wigs. IMHO the US is the greatest country in the world, but at present our government is royally fucked up, but if you're a soldier who's been trained to do a job, there's nothing more you want to do than get knee deep in the shit for whatever reason!

To make a long story longer...
I owe everything to the US Cavalry. Everyone has a defining time in their young life. For some it's college, for some it's sports, for some it's the military. For me it was the Army. After serving in shit holes all over the world slinging smut is easy.

I'll bet a lot of you don't know that Wiseman was a Cavalry Scout too!

Souts Out!

PS: I even had a site made with free access to all of the SoulCash sites for the guys in my platoon http://www.saberscout.com

I agree with you there. I would have been all for sadam being taken out during the first gulf war, because he invaded a country.

However, recently, he hadn't done much of anything other than rule with an iron fist the way so many dictators do.

Bulldog-Johnnie 01-28-2004 12:38 PM

I would but I've already been in and now I'm too old....

Anthony_A 01-28-2004 01:33 PM

BTDT, got the medals.

Now it's all about making money.
