Another Note: Something I remembered that sums up shaped ski's the best. My ski instructor always said: With shaped ski's don't over ski them, Let the ski do the work. And that's the truth... Shaped ski's are so simple and forgiving compared to straight ski's.. You just go along for the ride.

you have a ski instructor and you own two pairs of $500+ skis. what a fucking joke.

All this ski talk is getting me excited for the upcoming season. Im not familiar with the Xtra Hot skis so I can't dispense any advice. Are you getting into a new pair of boots as well? Choosing the right boots is as important as the right ski for you.

I have my 11 year old boots.

Damn, i feel so outdated..
But im one of the better skiiers on the slopes when im out there, and I even teach it as I am a part time instructor for kids, but FUCK, i knownothing about this newest technology!! I feel like a newbie.

The only thing new Id ever get is a jacket every 3 years.. But thats it! And Sunglasses.

I think im gunna stick with the boots I have already unless you can reconmend some that would really kick ass with the skis?

Shit..
I just checked..

I have 4 pairs of fucking skiboots in my garage.

And only 2 pairs of skis.

I bought some on clearance 3 years ago that I forgot about..

But i have no idea if they are any good.

They are Rachilie (sp) and the others are Nordica.

They were good at the time.
But i have no idea what thier focus is..

All i know is that they are considered "intermidate all mountain boots"

Boots are totally a personal thing. You need to feel comfortable in your boot if your feet aren't comfortable it's not fun to ski. How powerful of a skier has a lot to do with it as well. If you are very strong skier you can use a stiffer boot . Goto a shop and try on boots until you find a pair that "feel" good. Orthotic inserts are always a great investment, if you spend a lot of time on the slope you will help save your knees and improve your form.

Boney.. invest in a kickass comfortable pair of boots.. and demo different skiis this year.. I used to be a die hard soloman skiier.. still have my old 2s's in the attic.. I did not care for teh xcreames when I demo'd them.. they did fine in bumps.. but were jicky at high speeds and chattered..

lens good choice.. my favorite demo so far has been the Atomic line.. 9.2 betaride all mountain ski.. good for cruisin or hittin some bumps...

but honestly.. buy boots first.. and then demo.. till you fall in love with a ski.. besides.. then you dont' have to worry about tuning them.. or hitting rocks ;-))

I just lug my old Soloman 9.2 equipe boots with me these days...

cheers bro

I have always skiid on Dynastars, however I demo'd some awesome Rossignals last year.

That is what you should do, because skiis are so individual. Buy the skiis off ebay for the deal, but first try them out. Go to a ski shop, or a high end rental place at any decent mountain, talk to the guy about how you ski etc, and take them out for a spin.
Then, go to ebay and grab them there.

Also, I always pick my skiis out around labor day. The shops are selling off last years stuff. I replace my skiis every 2 years or so. Last year I got 1500 bucks worth of gear for 300 bucks at a last year sell out.
