Max the VX-2000 is the standard - 90% of Internet video porn shooters use it.

Hi,
I've used all kinds of camcorders and I frankly I don't see why you would want a DVCAM! IMHO, the best camera for erotic work is SONY VX2000. Period. I've used Canon XL1 (too cumbersome, needs a tripod), Canon GL2/XM2 (less controls, worse lens) as well as single-chip cameras. Still I vote for Sony VX2000. It has amazing low light performance which is a MUST for adult video + it has the zebra set at 75% which means you can expose for skin level. I can go on and on... but you already know this since you have it Best of luck,

Go with a Sony VX2000 unless you want to do bright lights on the set. The TRV950 gives you almost 50 lines better horizontal resolution but doesn't perform as well in low light. Another consideration is that the TRV950 is a handycam, lighter and much less bulky than a VX2000.
Also, I hadn't seen this mentioned, but it's been proven to me that PAL is a better format to use for shooting for the web. The gain in vertical resolution is considerable over NTSC and well worth it.

http://www4.big.or.jp/%7Ea_haru/0208_3CCD.html Oh, and I double-checked why PAL is better for Web usage, it comes down to the fact that NTSC DV is 720 x 486 pixels and PAL DV is 720 x 576. That's nearly a 20% gain in vertical resolution! Since I use a Sony Vaio Digital Studio for my editing, compatibilty is not a problem. The proprietory DVGate software can handle either format and so can Premiere once it's imported. Giving up five frames a second is more than made up by the enhanced image, IMO. Next cam I'm getting is going to be PAL, though it'll be a VX2000 since most of my shooting is on the street.

The Sony VX2000 seems to be very popular with porn companies and their cameraman.

I personally love the xm2 ... used an xl1s and its like hauling around a donkey on your shoulder ... a model stole it so i got the xm2, i love the frame mode, stills are crystal clear, and i prefer the lower frame rate, not that it matters when youre encoding to 15 fps anyways, but .... anyhow i love this damn camera... I can get good lighting in any situation with it, within a minute.

if i were you i'll wait a little bit and wait a couple fo month til december and see what the Sony VX2100 does. it's gonna be the replacement to the vx2000. i heard about better low light capabilities but you can read more about it here:
http://www.abcdv.com/article/articleview/161/1/53/ or just a search on google. i personally shoot with the vx2000, which is a great cam overall for shooting web stuff, but i am going to be getting the panasonic ag dvx100 for my DVD projects exclusively. depending on what we're gonna get with the vx2100, i might upgrade to it and continue shooting web stuff exclusively with it... |

guess its pretty much a matter of habits here, as most of the cameras available will do the job when it comes to shooting amateur like videos for the web...
I shoot with the GL2 (XM2) from Canon, their buildin mic is nothing worth, got a sennheiser ME66 instead, works like a charm... But if I was aiming more at the DVD market, I would take the AG DVX100 from Panasonic, as it actually got some superior features not seen on the lowend cameras before, such as 24P (NTSC version only, PAL is 25P) - makes it easy to transfer to "real" film... guess thats my ![]() |

Definitely true in low light - you just have to compensate.
By the way your photos are looking very slick. Nice work. |
