Dmoz Collecting Email Addresses
Do you think they will be using these to send out spam at some point?
How long has this been the case with them? |

I remember some 3 months ago when i submitted to Dmoz not having to enter a valid email address. Seems there is potentially more to this than meets the eye initially ![]() |

Editors are encouraged to contact site owners if something is wrong with a submission. Also, it isn't like there is some "harvest email addresses" button in the editor control panel. You'd have to go through thousands of individual submissions highlighting and CTRL-Cing email addresses. SpaceAce |

I was an ODP/DMOZ editor for quite some time. Biggest problem I had was webmasters would never send us a password to review their site. In order to be listed under membership sites the editor is supposed to look it over.
Personally, I never even kept a record of the submissions but the information is kept online for any editor to look at.
