My brother was hit again...fucking thieves

My brother has had his business open for less than two months. The first crooks got on top of the roof and sawed off his satellite dish. Day before yesterday...the police called him at his work place and told him the back door to his business was open.

The back door is metal and had three dead bolts on it. They got through it which set off the inside alarm...so that scared them and all they got away with was an Xbox.

My brother called his alarm company and asked why the monitoring station had not called the police. They first told him that they did not have the correct contact information...which was total BS and after my brother blew off at them...they finally admitted that they had failed to contact the monitoring station that his system had even been activated and had failed to FAX his contact information as well. He told them that they would pay for the damage to the door as well as the Xbox and the $80.00 cable that it used to connect to the big screen TV's. They said to read his contract...that they are not liable for any theft...which might would be applicable...providing they had done their job correctly. My brother blew off at them again and they finally said that they would pay for the damage.

In addition they broke out the rear window of his pickup and rifled the truck but he didn't really lose anything of value from the truck.

Actually he is lucky because he could have been cleaned out.

Of all the dumb things they could have stolen, a satellite dish ranks somewhere near the top... what do they propose to do with that thing? Go sledging?

In addition this was not an ordinary type of dish...as it only works with a local service and was coded for his business...so it is useless to them.

My brother told the alarm company that if they did not pay for his loss...they would have to take their hardware out...refund his money...and he would sue them for the loss and in addition he would go around to every business and warn them about the incompetency of their company. I said they agreed to pay for his loss...and they tentatively have...but the final decision will not be made until today. If you didn't live in Australia I would wonder if maybe it wasn't the same company.

Petty thieves and vandals should get much harsher sentences than they do...of course California...which is where I live...does have the three strikes law...and the third strike is either 15 to life or 25 to life. 15 I think..but it would not bother me if it was 15 on the first strike.

Remember the guy who set up electric wire in his store so the thief got fried and died?
Didnt he get charged with murder?

I think so...and their have been similar cases. In the State of California it is actually illegal to kill someone that breaks into your home...unless that person has a weapon of some kind.

I recall a case where a guy had rigged a shotgun to go off if the door to his business was opened...and he was charged with murder.

All it takes to stop burglaries is patience, a good swing and a big metal bat
