The City Council voted Tuesday to ban lap dances and all other physical contact between entertainers and customers at strip clubs, bikini bars and adult bookstores.

A "no-touch" rule would require dancers to remain at least six feet from customers, effectively banning the practice of tipping dancers by tucking money into their G-strings. The council's unanimous decision also would outlaw "VIP rooms" where nude dancers perform privately.

The ordinance now goes to Mayor James Hahn for his signature.

Violations of the ordinance would be punishable by up to six months in jail and up to $2,500 in fines.

Under the law, strip clubs also would have to have a state-licensed security guard on duty at all times and undergo an annual review of police permits.

Exotic dancers, who make most of their money through dances, argued at previous hearings that the ordinance would destroy their livelihood.

Supporters of the law argued that adult entertainment places contribute to prostitution and drug use.

One of our local city council "leaders" (can't remember which one - they all smell alike) was on one of those Sunday morning TV interview shows this past weekend. Heyyyy, wait a minute... I smell a loophole here!!!

( yes yours truly is known as 'loophole dude' by lawyers all over and yes I read contracts daily for big time attorneys/corporations)

Here's the loophole. It says that there's no contact between customers and entertainers, but it didn't say between entertainers and entertainers and customers and customers!

Here's whatcha do. HIRE ALL THE CUSTOMERS for $1 buck a piece to ENTERTAIN on the stage.

They can lap dance all they want and it ain't breakin' the law!

So at the front of each bar put up a sign: ' Join our staff on stage tonight'. Make em sign a form and that way the whole bar is a stage.

Or you can just NOT have entertainment and let the dancers be customers. What customers do with one another is fair game.
