Read the book "A Child called "IT" " by David Pelzer

Short Description
David J. Pelzer's mother, Catherine Roerva, was, he writes in this ghastly, fascinating memoir, a devoted den mother to the Cub Scouts in her care but not to David, her son, whom she referred to as "an It". This book is a brief, horrifying account of the bizarre tortures she inflicted on him, told from the point of view of the author as a young boy being starved, stabbed, smashed face-first into mirrors, forced to eat the contents of his sibling's diapers and a spoonful of ammonia, and burned over a gas stove by a maniacal, alcoholic mom. Sometimes she claimed he had violated some rule--no walking on the grass at school--but mostly it was pure sadism. Inexplicably, his father didn't protect him; only an alert schoolteacher saved David. One wants to learn more about his ordeal and its aftermath, and now he's written a sequel,The Lost Boy, detailing his life in the foster-care system.

I bought this book a few months ago...it's extremly disturbing...:(

That's horrible. I can't even wrap my mind around that.

Man i feel you guys, i had a good childhood, i probably cant even pretend to understand what you have been trough.

There really should be requirments to get kids, tests and stuff, there are just too many people who shouldent get that much power over another person.

Yeah it was very hard reading it. I have three kids that get a spanking when they deserve it but I would NEVER in a million years ever think of doing the things that woman did.

I had a pretty good childhood. My father was the one who disciplined my brother and I when we did something wrong. We would get the belt across the butt, but that wasn't too often. I would get grounded when I skipped school. Nothing extreme.

Hahaha, my grandmother used to tell us to get her a switch. We thought we'd get cute and bring her a little tiny whippy one... boy do they sting the back of your legs but good, and then when you sweat the next day you feel it again.

Then we tried bringing her a big stick. She just went out and got the one she wanted and we learned not to make her need a switch.

Discipline is a tremendous thing for a child. Just like a puppy they need structure.

Those that don't understand the difference between discipline and abuse need some serious help tho.
