I've seen it both in the markets and in people homes in Latin America.
That is one I haven't tried yet. But I have ... beef tripe (stomach lining) in soups, and sweet breads (throat gland) boiled and pan fried.

If you ever have eaten a hot dog, look up what the "meat" is really made of. It's everything but.

NASTY looking! Russia has very bad 8ssues with what they feed their children in their schools. Do a quick Google search and you see maggots in their soup etc. The cafeteria's at Russian schools have now banned cameras in the cafeteria after this pic was posted by a child.

what you talking about ? They have good/ very good food but NOT WITHOUT their traditional influence of food from Caucasus (Armenia, Georgia) and some other oriental countries.

1) Before 1991 the Ukraine was a part Russia (its name literally translates from Russian as "outskirts"). If you forgot, Kiev was a first capital of ancient Russia. It was a city where Russian language was spread of. Educate yourself

2) Not only Caucasus, but also Asian and Middle Eastern. Lots of dishes came here form Arabic countries as well as from Turkey , Mongolia, China, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan etc.

3) Not only Asian, but also Scandinavian countries.

4) Not only Scandinavia, but also Middle and Western Europe, such as Germany, Poland (yes, Poland), France, Italy, Greece etc.

Russia is a Word's biggest country which is located in a half of Europe and in the big part of Asia (before 1867 it was a part of North America as well). In contrast to the USA, it's a very old country. So it was like a huge cauldron where various people, traditions and course national dishes were mixing during 1000 years.

Many dishes that Russians consider traditional have foreign origins.

1) Potato. Russians cook lots of dishes with it, but the origin of potato is North America, which was a part or Russia in the past. These are very traditional Russian dishes made of potato:















2) Shashlik (aka shish kebab). It came to Russia from Caucasus and every Russian considers it a part of national cuisine.



3) Pelmeni. Famous Russian palmeny have came here from China.



4) The same applies to Russian lapsha which also has Chinese roots.



5) Makaroni. There are 100's of ways to cook 'em in Russia. But in fact Makaroni are well-known Italian pasta.





6) Bilyash and Sheburek. These came into Russian cuisine from Turks (Tatars, Bashkirs etc).







7) Shawarma (aka doner kebab), which origin is Turkey.



8) Rice porridge. I don't even know where it is from originally. But it's a part of Russian cuisine.



9) Kefir. A very healthy Russian drink which was invented on Caucasus.



10) Salted herringa. This one has came from Scandinavia.



11) Sauerkraut and braised cabbage. These could be invented here or came from Germany.



12) Potato vodka. This one has came from Poland I guess, because classic Russian vodka is made of wheat only. Polish potato vodka is as different to Russian one as Bourbon is different to Whiskey.

So when you are talking about Russian kitchen, open the World's map and look where Russia is located and which countries it has borders with.

Maybe. I really don't know for sure, because it could be invented in both countries at about the same time. Just like salo known as salt pork, speck etc. Some say it came from Western Russia (today it's called the Ukraine). Some say it has came from Siberia. Others believe it's a German food. But I think all versions are correct, because just like bread or boiled eggs it was the same product everywhere (except Jewish and Islamic regions of course ;)).
