Most people know I don't like political posts on GFY, but this is less political and more observation from abroad at what some are now seeing as alarming developments in the USA.

Trump has declared a national emergency and whether you are pro Trump or anti Trump this post has nothing to do with that.

There is no doubt that Russia (Putin) is playing havoc with western democracy, his troll farms are established fact, his desire for the west to be divided has been obvious for over a decade, his information warfare campaigns via social media on all ranges of subjects have been spectacularly successful. Forget Trump Russia collusion, Putin doesn't need collusion when he can control the discourse by weaponising social media.

But on to the National Emergency to build a wall. This has less to do with a wall than it does a broader tactic on a whole range of issues and these are what are known as salami tactics.

Salami tactics, also known as the salami-slice strategy or salami attacks, is a divide and conquer process of threats and alliances used to overcome opposition. With it, an aggressor can influence and eventually dominate a landscape, typically political, piece by piece. In this fashion, the opposition is eliminated "slice by slice" until one realizes (too late) that it is gone in its entirety. In some cases it includes the creation of several factions within the opposing political party and then dismantling that party from the inside, without causing the 'sliced' sides to protest. The reason I am posting this is because from the outside looking in, it appears Trump and his administration are subjecting the US population to salami tactics.

Slice by slice, piece by piece US citizens are losing rights and are too asleep at the wheel to notice. Now you have an National Emergency to build a wall, even though even the most ardent supporters of Trump in western nations have dismissed this as a fallacy.

This National Emergency is not about a wall, it's about control, it's about the constitution.

If you ever wondered to yourself what you would have done had you lived in Germany in the 1930s and saw the rise of Hitler then do it now, because you're in that world right now. It's just a different time and a different leader.

For the sake of US Citizens I hope there is a 2020 presidential election, but there might not be.
