I don't care for import racers in general, but my preference has always been sleeper cars. It's a lot more kickass if you dust someone who thinks they had it in the bag. If someone rolls up next to you in your Ferrari or modded Corvette, they have some idea what's coming. With a low-profile streeter you can have a lot more fun.

nothing lasts very long with 11.5:1 compression, 30lbs of boost and 150hp of nitrous.

nothing 4-cylinder, anyways. even a good ol' american v8 would have troubles there.

He might have changed his stock motor for the Honda V tech, those suckers can rev up to 16 000 rpm

You should get that ricer to post timeslips. And the Viper. A stock GTS does about mid-low 12 second 1/4's. Something is wrong if a modded ricer can keep up with a 10 second viper for 3 seconds.

That's not really true. It's like the saying goes: Speed costs money. How fast do you want to spend?

If we're talking about a situation where everyone has unlimited money, the V10 platform will win out, but that's not really how it goes.

Why, what's wrong? 10-second Japmobiles are not unheard of.

So you are saying, by that 7 second race you saw, that the Honda is a 10 second car?

I think the turbo spooling and the BOV would be an indication it was not a sleeper?

Read my post. Is that what I said? Does your sentence match mine?

Are you saying from that 7 second clip that that Civic is NOT a 10-second car?

Power-to-weight is the ultimate factor, but a lighter car can have a harder time getting traction. Two cars with the same power-to-weight ratio won't finish together down to the 100th of a second, either. Driver reaction time, traction, gearing, where the power develops on the torque curve; those are all very important.

No, I don't care for them, myself. I like cars like the Oldsmobile 442, old Corvettes, Camaro SS's, old Malibus, etc. A fast car is a fast car, though, and with enough money those imports will lay down a trail of flaming rubber.

definitely doesnt mean that it's a 10 second civic, a FWD running that much boost is going to have a shitload of wheelspin off the line, that's why they'll do runs from a roll instead. you're probably looking at 1/4 mile times around 12-flat for that car

i've seen a bunch of other vids from other civics from the 'cheeze' crew and they're all the same... running 16+ psi of boost at a lower compression ratio on strengthened internals and almost nothing else indicating that's what they have under the hood except for the intercooler

nice car, just won't be what everyone appreciates

Not that 12 seconds is exactly slow.

I used to have bookmark to a page about this guy's modified Pontiac Grand Pris. He had owned and modded two of them, both into the 12's. It was pretty cool. Might have even been like 11.88. I can't remember, now. 11.88 or 12.88, I think one of those is right.

this is true... lack of traction is the main enemy of the FD3S camp... but, staged fuel delivery can combat that on some levels (Haltech E6K, etc.), your right that it will take a higher power/weight ratio on the lighter cars..

Haha, I see. That was just general anti-rice hostility

No, I don't care for them, myself. I like cars like the Oldsmobile 442, old Corvettes, Camaro SS's, old Malibus, etc. A fast car is a fast car, though, and with enough money those imports will lay down a trail of flaming rubber.

Actually I didn't think that Honda was rice. I just don't see the big deal with a car with a Turbo and that many mods hanging with a Viper for a couple of seconds. And that is all it was, hanging and the Viper started pulling. Hard.

not slow by any means. a lot of tracks won't even let you run without a rollbar/cage if you're into the 12s

Yes, I doubt it will even break 13's. Soooo, post a timeslip and prove me wrong.

Obviously I don't have timeslips for someone else's car. The fact is you can't tell any more from that clip than I can. Maybe he wasn't pushing the car, maybe he had a compression problem, maybe he didn't engage all his nitrous stages, blah, blah, blah. I could just as easily say "Post a timeslip to prove it isn't a 10-second car" and that would be just as valid as your request for a timeslip.

For the record, look back at the post I made that started this. I never claimed to believe that was a 10-second car, anyway.

What track? Any video? I don't doubt they could do it. Without a doubt. Then again, if you modded a Viper or a Vette....
