no.. toughing it out against AMERICAN companies. Iraqis won't have to remember shit, they don't count. Thats the whole point.

We held the wheat export contract for Iraq under Saddam, and you'd better be damn well sure that there are a dozen American companies that want that market, In return for our support i HOPE that our foreign minister is adept enough to maintain that contract and hopefully pick up some more, we're the only other nation besides the US and the UK with troops on the ground, ships in the sea, therefore, although our contribution is small conpared to you guys we will still be fighting to be economically re-imbursed for our effort.
The other reason for our high level of support is the Free Trade Agreement currently being negotiated between the Us and Australia.

The USA has had, at the very least, one major success in converting a country. Japan. The Japanese culture was as radical to our culture as the Muslim culture is to our culture. After only five years of occupation they were granted their independence and they are now the second richest country on the earth. A little island (less than the size of California) with virtually no natural resources of their own.

I have said all along that taking military control of the country would be the easy part, but winning the peace would be the difficult part. We did succeed with Japan, so will just have to wait and see.

I am aware of the track record. I also believe that one of the primary reasons the US is taking control of Iraq is for military strategic positioning. If we cannot put in place a stable friendly government, we will put in place and maintain a "puppet government" for as long as we can. Iran by the way served our purpose for many years.
