"lucky" that you owned $50 piece of electronic equipment? that quote exactly proves Rochard's point... :2 cents:

Was technology in Russia the same in the 1980s? When did Russians get the Walkman, arcade games, CDs, home computers, etc.....

Just curious.

First of all it was equal to about $500, but not $50 in the USSR. And yes, I was lucky to own it in the early 80's when the one was unable to just enter the shop and buy a new Japanese toy. It was the Soviet Union - not Russia.

Like our god CurrentlySobber suggests, I'll drop a pile at your post and at you propaganda. I've just posted the personal experience of 80's. You may consider it a Zionist propaganda or whatever, I don't care.

But could they?

When I grew up in the 1980s I was told Russia had stores with bare shelves. They couldn't keep the population in bread. But were they able to import electronics from Japan?

I still don't think the US guys can understand the USSR life of 80's. Those are clips of Soviet cosmic tale for kids of 1974:

Those ones of are from another kid movie of 1974:

A movie from 1981:

That's not about the technology. That;s about to feel those times. If you think that Soviet people were so different than people on the West, you are completely wrong.
